Windows Security Centre won't switch on

I'm running Vista and since Saturday I've been getting message saying WSC is turned off. When I go to switch it on it says "The Security Centre service cannot be started". I've scanned with Superantispyware and my system's come up clean. When I tried to defragment it wouldn't do it and when I went to do disc clean up with Norton 360 it said it couldn't access the c drive. I'm worried, what's wrong?

Removed Norton and all will be resolved... it's a horrible program.

click Start< Run type services.msc and press enter. The services window should open. Scroll down and locate the Security Center service. Right click the service and select properties. Under Startup type select the option to Automatic and press OK. Now hightlight the service and select start the service. Security Center should now be started.
