I read the whole thing. Context avoids (most) stupid comments.

    Come on! Be honest.

Some don't. That teachers thread had one moron after another jumping in spouting stuff that had already been discussed and settled.

    I blame teaching standards. :D

It's your own fault for jumping right in OP! You should read threads fully before posting!

Read through it (to about 3 pages, then i get bored). Dont like to be posting stuff other people have said repeatedly already. Might as well have an original input!

I usually try to read the whole thing - but if its long I just make my point (and make a note stating that I havent read the whole thing)

Send them back where they came from, thats what I say.

Most of the time I do read the whole thread .But if I get to page 3 or 4 and find it's to uninteresting and dragging on a bit nerdy ( at that point ) I sometimes abandon thread . I avoid ones I know I will have little or no input to add . So many threads and not enough time .

If I come across a thread that has quite a few pages and I think I would like to comment on it,I will read it through.
But if I come across something that has been posted by another poster and it was similar to what I would have posted I will thank that poster and move on.

So in general yes, unless it has a huge amount of posts before I see it I will read it from the begining.

This is the funniest post on the thread.
He got in early, made the obscure comment that someone who has not read the full thread would make and got a laugh.

I was going to say that someone else will not read the full thread and come along and try to be funny, but then I got to the last post:

If I see the thread early on I'll read the whole thing (once it's interesting) and keep following new posts. I rarely enter threads over 5 pages long, as I have not the patience to read 150+ posts before being able to make my own contribution.

i think you make an interesting point original poster.

There's such a thing as an interesting topic or subject that you don't have to comment on you know;)

Or do you only read newspaper articles and then write your own 'contribution' at the end in biro?
