No Sagna tomorrow. We're gonna end up with Silvestre at left back and Song in the middle of defence.

An ole rumour as to who could be looking for Adebayor's services next season!

I had forgotten about this until earlier when Dan Roebuck on Arsenal Live was talking about the players dancing celebrations as of late!

Hopefully some more of this tommorrow!:)

Different sources are reporting that Gibbs took part in training yesterday and is about 80% to pass a fitness test today.

Gerrard out of the game on Tuesday with an injury. Let's hope we don't pick up too many walking wounded after today.

they can take ade, I'm not fond of him tbh. He can deliver at times but a lot of the time he's clumsy and doesn't have much imagination on the pitch.

Wenger would want to be careful, Messrs Ferguson & Alberdyce may come knocking his door to give him a talking to about respect!

Not so annoyed about the formation yesterday as the personnel.

4-5-1 is OK cause we needed to cover the defence a bit but with Fabregas up top of the midfield and Diaby playing, it doesn't make much sense.

4-5-1 with Denilson - Fabregas - Arshavin would have been much better.

It almost seems that by resting Arshavin, he's placing more importance on Tuesday's match against Liverpool which with Villa's result yesterday is almost a nothing game now. If anything it'd probably be more beneficial to us to lose the thing so Utd are still under pressure and can't rest people coming up to the CL semi final.

Do you ever stop? Talk about s**t stirring!

Have to say I was glad to see Arsenal beaten yesterday, because they were on a good run, looked in great form. There's hope for us in the CL yet. :)

I was in work yesterday so didn't see the game / interviews after.

Arsene got it wrong from the off.

Bringing in Diaby form Song who has been fantastic the last few games?
Leaving Arshavin and Nasri on the bench?
    Taking Adebayor off?

Absolute mess, the FA Cup was realistically the cup we could have won this year, we won't win the Champions League, I'll be amazed if we even get to the final.

How long more are Big Al, Clichy and Sagna out for? I'm not hugely impressed by Djourou so I'm not as concerned by his absence although I'd prefer him than Silvestre.

Fabianski is a real weak link. Maybe he'll still come good with time but he's not ready, or anywhere near it yet. We may sometimes criticise Big Al for staying on his line too much but I'd far rather that than the rash decisions that Fabianski makes. He's been running off his line in every single game he's played this year and gotten away with it............until yesterday.

please tell me someone can explain not starting arshavin.

there is no way wenger can justify that with any sort of explanation regarding ; rotation, rest, tactics.

    ffs

my guess: Wenger thought Hiddink would know Arshavin well enough at this stage that'd he be well able to set his team up to nullify him, hence the only logical explanation i can see is that Wenger was trying to throw Hiddinks tactical plans up in the air a bit. far fetched i know...

could be a host of other reasons aswell i guess. maybe he looked jaded in training and Wenger didn't think him up to the physical battle, maybe he had a cold, or a niggle they are keeping under wraps...

yeah that would be the best explanation imo too.

cos he's been a revelation since joining us and has been one of our best players.and if he was sick etc...you'd think wenger would use it as an excuse.

maybe it was a big Russian conspiracy involving Abramovich, Hiddink and Arshavin...

Potential good news with regards Almunia. Might be fit for the weekend:

^^^ Sky sports have the same story so hopefully theres some truth in it, the arsenal website are still saying hes a fortnight away from return.

Anyway as long as he is back in the team for the trip to old trafford at the end of the month il be happy!

Arsenal strike do to miss Anfield trip

I think thats meant to read "duo". I refuse to read a report that has such an obvious typo in the heading

Don't think that'd be the reason - you have to back your best players. Hiddink would know Van Persie too but he played.

I think Wenger thought he was protecting a potentially weak back 4 more by playing 5 in midfield and not having both Walcott and Arshavin involved. As it was, Diaby didn't exactly add the muscle he was supposed to, he gave away a horrendous amount of ball and Adebayor was on his tobler for the entire game.

I reckon as it ticked down towards extra time, Wenger thought he'd get away with waiting till then to make a change and hopefully attack a tired Chelsea. But for a misjudgment from Fabianski, we could be discussing a narrow, hard-fought win but alas, we're not.

Is Eduardo fit? I know he wasn't in the squad on Saturday but he's been in the last few before that. I'm guessing Wenger doesn't want to play him all that often as he's got injured in every single comeback he's made this season.

Can't see past a Pool win if the defence and attack are missing.

Won't be that disappointed if Arse lose tomorrow night. Win the games against Boro, Pompey & Stoke and that should be 4th secured. I'd much rather have a full squad for those games, and the Champions League too obviously. Plus I'd much rather see Pool win the league than United so I wouldn't mind helping them out all that much.

Got a team update text today.

RvP and Ade out. Sanga and Eduardo back. Manuel still injured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,579 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Eduardo is fit to play. I'd say it will be him and Bendtner up top tomorrow.
Would love to see Vela startup top with Eduardo but it won't happen

    Would like to see this:

    Fabianski
    Sagna
    Toure
    Silvestre
    Gibbs
    Nasri/Walcott
    Song
    Fabregas
    Arshavin
    Bendtner
    Eduardo

Probably a bit too wishful but will have to wait

Even though I'd enjoy beating Liverpool, the way the league is going it'd be better for us if we lost. The CL is our very last chance at a trophy this season and we're only three games away from lifting it.

I fully believe we're capable of beating Man Utd and whoever we meet in the final should we get there*, but it makes a huge difference to our chances if Rooney, Ronaldo, Vidic, Rio etc have to play four games in two weeks instead of two games in two weeks.

Man U's match the Saturday before they play us is home to Spurs and there's no way they could rest players for that if Liverpool are just a single point behind. The match in between is away to Boro which would be tricky enough(giant killers, good players, fighting for lives).

On another note, Liverpool looks like being a really bloody tough game. We've played twice since Liverpool last played plus we've like 7 first team absentees or something? Looking forward to seeing Arshavin and Eduardo combine though.

*except Barca, I don't think we could beat them.

I almost agree - but in terms of belief for the Champions League, it could be pretty bad for the team to have built up confidence by beating Wigan, Villarreal, Newcastle, etc. only to lose it by losing to two of the bigger teams in a row.

I'd rather see 'Pool win the league as well but a result tomorrow could still very much help Arsenal's season.

I'd like to see this team against Liverpool:

    Fabianski
    Eboue - Sagna - Toure - Gibbs
    Fabregas - Song
    -- Walcott -- Nasri -- Arshavin
    Eduardo

    Can Sagna play there? Cool.

Although dropping Silvestre would mean Wenger admitting that he was a very very pointless acquisition.
