    Being a police officer in Strathclyde will now have the added power of the force on it's side. Lucky to have the Jedi watching your back I say. Master Yoda will be so pleased. :D

    A police force in Scotland appears to have some Star Wars fans in its midst, after eight of its officers recorded their religion as Jedi.

    Strathclyde Police said the officers and two civilian staff had listed themselves as Jedi in voluntary diversity forms.

    The details were obtained from the force in a Freedom of Information request.

    Jane's Police Review asked 55 forces across the UK how many employees had officially declared their religion as Jedi.

    It said Strathclyde Police was the only force to confirm that some of its staff had entered Jedi.

    Jedi Knights such as Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda are fictional characters in the Star Wars movies.Obi-Wan Kenobi

    Said to live 'in a galaxy far, far away', they use 'the Force' to battle arch-enemy Darth Vader and try to help characters who have strayed to the 'dark side'.

    Jane's Police Review editor Chris Herbert, who requested the information, said: 'The Force appears to be strong in Strathclyde Police with their Jedi police officers and staff.

    'Far from living a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, some members of the noble Jedi order have now chosen Glasgow and its surrounding streets as their home.'

    A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: 'At the time of the request, ten (eight police officers and two police staff) had recorded their religion as Jedi.'

    She added that the force monitored six strands of diversity - age, disability, gender, race religion and belief, and sexual orientation.

    The force said the information was provided voluntarily and securely stored.

    In the 2001 Census for England and Wales around 390,000 people stated their religion as Jedi.

    The Office for National Statistics did not recognise it as a separate category, and incorporated them with the atheists.

    In Scotland the figure was a reported 14,000.

    Strathclyde is the largest police force in Scotland. It employs around 8,200 police officers and 2,800 police staff.

    Most of them look more like Jabba the Hutt than Jedi's.

    Hmm, I wonder if they believe that the universe is controlled by micro organisms inside us that control everything including our thoughts, emotions and doings.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_census_phenomenon tbh
    Over 53,000 people listed themselves as Jedi in New Zealand's 2001 census. New Zealand had the highest per capita population of reported Jedi in the world that year, with 1.5 percent marking "Jedi" as their religion. The city of Dunedin had the highest population of reported Jedi per capita.[1] Statistics New Zealand treated Jedi responses as "Answer understood, but will not be counted". If Jedi were counted it would have been the second largest religion in New Zealand. The percentages of religious affiliations were:

    * Christian: 58.9%
    * No religion: 29.6%
    * Object to answering: 6.9%
    * Jedi: 1.5%
    * Buddhism: 1.2%
    * Hindu: 1.2%

    There was a dramatic fall in the number of New Zealand Jedi five years later, with some 20,000 people giving this as their religion in the 2006 census
    Oh crap they've gone over to the dark side :eek:

    Reminds me of the first Futurama episode, where the cops track down Fry hiding from having his career chip implanted.

    They break out the light sabres and start beating him over the head with them.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/north_west/7360871.stm

    "Hughes, who was drunk and dressed in a black bin bag, shouted "Darth Vader!"

    This is the most ridiculous story i have ever read in my life...an oldie but a goodie
