... a cello piece that's being used for an ER ad on more4 at the minute.

I haven't heard it myself but my sister knows it as a well known piece.

I haven't heard it, but it might be J.S. Bach's Suite for solo cello No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007 - Part 1. It is a very popular piece that gets played a lot.
