Not responding to texts?

Anybody else get irritated when people don't respond to texts? My gf is brilliant at it. I can call her any time of the day and she'll answer, but responding to texts is right out. She's the same with all of her friends, her sister, parents etc. Just gets a bit frustrating if I'm in work and can't call or whatever. Am I alone in this little irritation?

(And yes, PI is >>>> that way and no, this isn't a PI)

I'm on the other side - often the one who doesn't respond....will eventually but takes quite a while usually!

Im the opposite. I'l usually answer texts pretty fast but I'm a bstard for never answering the phone. Call center work has created this fear that theyre gonna ask me for something if I answer

Doesn't bother me at all. I can sometimes not respond to a text for hours, or even leave it until the next day. A text is usually not important enough for an instant response, if it was so important then the person would just ring me.

Nope doesnt bother me but than again i'm crap at replying to texts. Much rather someone rang me.

Meh, I don't use txtspk and only use it when I need to.

Irish people used to be so casual.

Remember the good old days when the phone was a thing that sat on your hall table and you governed it- if you were home and it rang, you answered it. Now, it goes everywhere with you and dictates so much.

I don't hop to answer texts. If someone needs me to respond to something so quickly, they should either ring me or ask in person.

Nah, I don't really get bothered about that sort of thing, I don't often text back myself unless it's something urgent.

Wrecks my head!!! Especially if its something important and all it takes is a quick 'yes' or 'no' response. Just text back for frick sake! :rolleyes:

OP. If you're so worried about people replying back to your sms's just end every text you send with "if you don't reply in the next 10 mins I'm going to kill myself".

You will be amazed with how quickly you realise no one cares about you.

After working a reception job for three years during college I too have learned to be horrified if my phone rings. My first thought is that they're going to want something from me and I'll be stuck.

I got a text the other day, my phone was in my bag and I didn't know about it till hours later, when I tried to reply turned out I've no credit left on my phone, and I've not been anywhere to get some... she probably thinks I'm not talking to her now.

if i get this in a text, it takes me longer to reply, cause i have to send it to my nephew, get him to decipher it, and then send it back to me

Id never rely on texts if i had something that needed a quick answer to. We dont call it a phone for nothing!

I just hate texting in general. . It drives me crazy. I'd much prefer to call somebody. .

I usually don't text back unless . . it's like real important. . or I'm on webtext and I get to type the message. =]

I rarely respond to texts. unless its something really important.

I think people have got the message by now, I don`t get bothered by that annoying phone anymore.

It rots my balls, it really does. I can understand if its a case of having no credit or something, thats fair enough, if ya cant talk, say ya cant talk instead of leaving the other person hanging, drives me ****ing mad...

I gave up my mobile for lent. Used it non-stop and my mates were always naggin me about it so I said fcuk it, I'll try to go without it for a day, then 2 days... Now I don't miss it at all, and realize that I was an infomaniac while I had it.

I reply straight away, can't relax 'cos I'll forget if I don't. I've two friends who take ages, even days to reply, one will reply eventually but the other one sometimes forgets:mad:. A few others when I text them, they'll reply quickly and be full of apologies if they don't, I've to be prepared for texting half the night too 'cos they always have to have the last word..bless! Even when they text first they'll keep on replying until I stop:o. One of them is a manic depressive texter, like they'll text like a bast*rd then run out of credit and they'll ignore mine for a week or two 'til they get round to buying some.
