    No Micheal O'Leary isn't giving people STD's.

Haven't been on a ryanair flight in years, but when did they start playing that stupid fan-fare sound when the plane lands. I know it say something about "another on time flight" but on both flights i was on recently, nearly everyone started clapping when they heard the fan-fare.
I though people were past the stage of clapping when a plane lands (unless it was a terrible flight). So are people really that stupid that they can be made to clap by playing a fan fare?

    Other passengers were probably retarded.

I thought this thread was going to be about that Czech ryanair girl, who is a porn star, spreading the clap.

I've never flown with Ryanair and I'll continue to keep that up, I hate when people clap. Like "yay our pilot did what he was supposed to do, land safely"

Clapping when the plane lands is such a package holiday thing.

What would you do if he screwed it up? .. not clap?

I cringe when people clap on a flight - especially a Ryanair flight - after they've bounced the plane off the ground!

The pilot does a difficult job (and with Ryanair, s/he does it for pretty shit pay) - I think it's polite to allow them some congratulations upon landing, even if it is just a formality.

Yes Op, you have to finally accept it - you are just well above average, everybody else on the flight are retards. Lucky you.

Bollox, so do you clap after a nurse takes care of you?

Well, it hasn't come up, but in that instance I would say 'thank you' as I'm not a group of people so clapping would be a bit redundant.

I get physically annoyed/borderline aggressive when people clap on a plane/in cinema. I nowadays start the clap on a plane takin the piss, and can therefore enjoy it as a sense of achievement.

First time I heard clapping on planes was in USA on internal flights. 20 years ago. Thought, typical...
Have heard it happen over here on long holiday flights, but not on Ryanair-bus journeys.
That Scottish voice telling us they arrived on time is awful, but the reason they do it is because of the perception amoung the traveling public that Ryanair are late because they're cheap. They are rarely late because they're so focused on the 25min turnaround, even to the extent of being rude to their customers.
The more I read about Ryanair the more I wonder should I fly with them.
The more I see their fares (despite the extras) the more I fly with them.

I'm always the first to clap because i know it annoys people and everybody follows you, nobody would clap if somebody didnt first. Stop whining and make a game out of it, I have started a bout of clapping before the plane even touched the ground just to see if people would follow many times before, its fun :D

they're always on time because they give a completely false "arrival" time. I have a flight to London Gatwick in a few weeks, departs 10am, arrives 11.45 am - it does not take 1 hour 45 mins to from Dublin to Gatwick but they will be able to say they landed on time!

They still got me to London and back last week for a grand total - including a checked bag - of €45 - would have only been 15 if I'd carried the bag on but that's my problem. I'll still fly with ryanair most of the time - but I won't clap when I land!!!

Shouldn't you clap after the pilot gets the plane off the ground too ?....it is an equally important part of the journey.

I usually try and start a round of applause when the plane lands

    Just for the laugh really

I do the same in the cinema

    Yeah, I'm that guy.

School tours were the best. To take the piss, as soon as the fan fair came on we'd all start cheering and roaring and sure enough the whole plane would join in. Good times!

Ive only ever seen people clap when there was delays or dangerous conditions, like the time we went through a thunderstorm - but that was awesome. The biggest applaus was from the flight they cancelled and made us stay overnight in Atlanta.. that was a trip.

A man was sitting in the bar in departures at Manchester airport. A
Beautiful woman walks in and sits down at the table next to him. So he
Decides because she's got a uniform on, she's probably an off-duty
    Flight attendant.

So he decides to have a go at picking her up by identifying the airline
She flies for, thereby impressing her greatly.

He leans across to her and says the Delta Airlines motto -

"We love to fly and it shows".

The woman looks at him blankly. He sits back and thinks up another line.
He leans forward again and delivers the Air France motto -

"Winning the hearts of the world".

Again she just stares at him with a slightly puzzled look on her face.
Undeterred, he tries again, this time saying the Malaysian Airlines
    Motto -

    "Going beyond expectations".

The woman looks at him sternly and says -

"What the f*** do you want ?"

"Ah !" he says, sitting back with a smile on his face......."Ryanair".

And as for that music! It's sooo ****ing annoying.

    The tards that clap *cringe*

Similar to people who clap at the cinema, i usually just turn around and stare into their face until they realise how stupid they are. I'm a nice person really though :)
