Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Why the confused smiley? If the answer to the brainteaser is posted directly below the question then anyone that opens the thread would see the answer. By using spoiler tags the viewer has to reveal the answer for themselves by clicking and dragging the mouse cursor over the blacked-out text.

    That's not quite true though because
    there are lots of things which are smaller than an atom
    Maybe so but if you take the "," characters as meaning "and" then you need something that satisfies all four clauses. Things that are smaller than an atom e.g.
    protons, neutrons and electrons
    only satisfy one.

    but I think they are defined as
    sub-atomic particles
