Trinnerheads and why I hate them

First of all I am a Trinity student. Who does Arts. Which probably makes me a Trinity thoroughbred. Nevertheless, my experience at Trinity has led me to despise 90% of students in the university.

1) The SU. The students Union is run by a pack of jokes for a joke student population. The emphasis is on terrible jokes and an overly relaxed, 'one-of-the-lads-who-doesn't-like-to-take-things-too-seriously' management style.

2) Trinity fashion. You cannot wear hoodies and tracky bottoms around the college. Well I do, but its a bit of an exception. The Urban outfitters thing is infuriating.

3) Wealthy Dublin female students. Trinity has these in huge abundance. They usually wear colourful hats or do something 'whacky' with their hair. They undoubtedly have solid views on social justice and the aspiration of a better world. Every evening they go back to their comfertable home in the suburbs, sit down to dinner with mammy and daddy and recount the horrific trials and tribulations they see in inner city Dublin every day. The man on the street really gets them down.

4) The not quite D4 types. UCD has a monopoly on the D4 so I can't go too harsh on Trinity here. But its amazing to hear 3rd and 4th year students from all round the country who have developed a wierd hybrid accent which sounds vaguely like its from Donnybrook, but not quite there.

5) The pretensions to being well read. Its in every TCD students interest to claim they've read at least four of five times more than they actually have. And that they are at least three times smarter than the average student in any other institution in Ireland. Its bollox.

6) The fact that loads of people will react to this with scorn or outrage. Trinity students excell in not 'looking bothered' and will undoubtedly react to this post with a curious reaction of condemnation, arrogance and attempts at humour. Ah well.

Yeah. You couldn't be more correct to be honest. I hate Trinnersheads too! Also hate the fact that they look down on every other college. I also study at trinity although not this year. I'm on Erasmus:D:D:D!!!! People at my host Uni are just way more down to earth and normal.

If it bothers you that much then why go to Trinity? Or maybe just get out of the Arts block a little? Why can't you wear hoodies and tracky bottoms in college? First I've heard of it!

There's some chip on your shoulder. No matter what anyone does, it will infuriate you.

I also second getting out of the Arts Block. I'm not sure if you're saying you SHOULDN'T be wearing hoodies etc. in college, or that you'll get stared down, but tbh wearing a hoody is me trying to look classy when I come to college, and I've never felt bad over it. : p

Seriously, I dispise Trinity students. Every day a running commentary is going on in my head, summing up the most recent whackball that walks past me on the college grounds. Am I wrong for thinking like this?

The funny thing is, you think you will be judged for wearing trackies and a hoodie, but at the moment you are standing in judgement of everyone else. You're the one looking down your nose.

You sound kinda like the sort of guy that will come into college one day with an assault rifle. Get over it.

There's the reaction I was waiting for... You get over it! Am I not allowed to hate my fellow students? Its a superficial hatred, I have friends in the place for Gods sake. Its like hating D4 people when in reality you might hang around with them. You like the person both for the things you hate and the things you don't. No-one else have this paradoxical relationship thing going on?

You hand someone all the opportunities that life has to offer on a plate. And what do they do?... Complain.

Perhaps the OP should feck off back under rock they crawled from and apologise for denying someone else a place in this fine institution.

Why is that when university life doesn't work out the way you'd like it, it's someone else's fault?

I think your problems are self made. People choose how they interact with others and I think you are just as much in the wrong as the people you 'hate'. If you have friends similar to the people you hate have you talked to them about your feelings on this issue?

Cant really comment on this as after spending 4 years in the college I know little to nothing about the SU and thats fine by me.

You cant wear Hoodies and tracksuit bottoms? **** I better go back and apologise for wearing them for four years through college...Dont know where you got this from. Loads of people dress like that.

To be honest I do agree with a good bit of what the OP said but not to the extent that I'd hate 90% of Trinity students. Well maybe 90% of the arts block.:p

OP, I feel a bit sorry for you. Being so negative and hateful all the time must be a drain on you. You're coming across as pretty immature though. Stop caring about how other people dress themselves, stop caring if people live in the suburbs (someone can be middle class and still care for societal change, you're just coming across as bizarrely and pointlessly prejudiced saying that), all in all, stop obsessing over other people and perhaps try to see the good in others. See someone with a colourful hat? Instead of going "ugh one of them again I bet they're x y z ugh so angry", go "Oh, that's a nice hat" and continue on your way. It makes life so much more pleasant.

This is very true.

The last few posts make me think this guy is on a windup, and he's done a good job. When it descended into farce ("if we don't have hate what's left?" and "The English") it was pretty hilarious. Well played.

+1. Do you know what really gets up my nose too. People that wear shoes in the college. Theres far too many of them like. Who they think they are walking around all high and mighty in their apparel. Its about time something was done!!! :mad:
