Was just listenin on the radio to some muppet who wants to sell the book of kells. Did anyone else here it? its one of the funniest things i've ever heard. One guy rang in actually asking if it was an april fools joke he was so ridiculous.

Is it not the worst idea in the history of the country for one muppet to think about sellin it

We're lviing beyond our means - we cannot afford culture or history. I say sell the damn thing. It's just a fancy colouring book at the end of the day.

At €8 a pop to just see the thing and a never-ending Q of tourists out the door in the summer I'd say its a far better idea to hang on to it.

I heard that show too! I have to say I agree with that councilor from Meath. I mean it's actually a cracking idea. Nobody who argued against him had actually a good point. That Senetor David Norris(what a ****ing idiot!) just kept saying how can we sell the book, It's priceless, culture and all that ****e. Bull**** in my opinion. Culture who needs it, it is the cause of all wars.

It's only worth what somebody will pay for it. The councilor reckoned they could get 400million for it from somebody like Bill Gates and that it would be a good way to invest money rather than in the banks and that 400 million could go a long way.

I mean at the end of the day, we're in a financial crisis. We need money to create jobs. 400 million would be more useful than a book that's just generating money for Trinity College.

Seriously. What would you prefer jobs in this country or some book that I guarantee you rarely think about!!!

Yeah yeah, but surely this is an idea from someone who is totally bereft of actual workable ideas?

Why not just sell the Aaron Islands too, or maybe Glendalough. For Gods sake, they need to take the economy out of the doldrums through proper macroeconomic methods, not by setting up some sort of jumble sale.

Tough decisions have to be made people. This isn't like the glory days of the 80s, when people had big fancy pots (albeit littered with holes) to p*ss in. We have nothing now. I suggest we knock down all of Ireland's monuments and heritage buildings and turn them into lucrative, revenue-generating brothels. I can't see any other sensible way forward.

Sounds like a very gud idea to me, though I can't understand why anyone would want to buy it..the storyline just isn't good enough, give me a Harry Potter book any day of the week!

You obviously don't care very much about our culture if your spelling of the Aran Islands is anything to go by. So maybe we should start selling pieces of our culture if people like you can't even bother to learn the spelling of them, never mind the cultural signifance they bring to the country.

shur anyone really that would contemplate seling it, would probably sell their own mother if they got the chance!
