yeah fcuking loads! its really not a big deal in ireland any more cos we've been exposed to other nationalities for so long:
    • we were to the fore front of religious education in europe since ... whenever
    • we were among the biggest carriers of passengers from africa to the US in the 1600's, the budget carriers of their day!
    • we've been going to australia since the 17/1800's, way before the whole backpacker thing
    • we went Stateside, for spring break I think, in a major way after the big potato strike of 1845
    • we've obviously had foreign direct investment(FDI) come to the country for centuaries from the normans, vikings, british
and of course perhaps the most forgotton aspect of our rich multicurtural, multiethnic, multinational history is that 'rowdy' bunch of blacks and tans came over for St. Patricks day in 1920 and went a bit mad!

*I'd like to buy the world a home, and furnish it with love...*
    :):D:pac::rolleyes::p:cool::P:o:)

But none of them effect Irish today i don't think:o
Barr the fact we have always been very laid back country and we had student visitors throughout majority of our lives. And had to bare the brunt of attacks and stereotyping from other nationalities also.

Just wanted to see how well Irish are mixing with everyone.Someone tried to say we only love irish so i am making a Point Irish only judge by personality.
Goes without saying Italians and Irish will always get on well :)

I was just joking...out my irish friends ^_^

I dunno...my impression (living round here since one year) is that usually irish people are quite friendly and open to understand your background.
But...I "judge" my friends by personality but also religion, nationality and many more things...judge doeasn't mean having prejudices (<--- is that correct in english? hope so)...I think everything counts in the making of a person and there's nothing wrong with that. My 2 cents.

Friendships are friendships. Doesn't matter where they're from.

    Unless they're Micronesian.

lol thats cool my Italian friend :o

No everyone is entitled to make friends on how they feel,I am just type of person i dont work off stereotype like they are muslim then they must be bad or they have criminals then they must be all the same.I just hate the stereotyping. And i dont think majority of Irish people do either.
Welcome to Ireland btw hope you are very happy here:)

why is there a no option and a dont think about it option. Some people might think about it the pick no whereas others might think about it and pick yes. Then ya have people who dont think about it and just say yes as opposed to the ones that dont think about it and say no. Ya know loike

I voted yes only becuase the stupid OP confused me. I looked at your thread title, assumed the poll would be the same and no. It was a completely different question. What the **** kind of performance is that?! Stupid poll question mate, poor show. And no it doesn't factor in my friendships.

Nationality makes absolutely no difference to me. I have a friend who's English and one who's Filipino.

Religion - none of my friends are any way religious so I've never thought about that really. If they were religious it wouldn't bother me as long as they weren't constantly preaching or trying to convert me.

I have like, ummmm an awful scatter of friends that are foreign! Never really thought about it until now,English,American, Canadian,Nigerian,South African mhhhhhhhhhhhhh *stokes fictional white beard*

Yes I have dozens of non Irish friends .Which probably has more to with living in England than anything else :p .Their religion is umimportant to me and are a mixture of mainly catholics, protestants and non believers .

I have a few polish and nigerian mates due to college and work. Sound lads and better mates than some of my Irish pals.

Of course it doesnt make a difference, sure most of my Irish friends are catholic and I forgive them :D so I hardly care about fordner religion. I have a few good english and australian mates.

I'm not Irish - can I include myself in that poll? :o

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,070 ✭✭✭✭pq0n1ct4ve8zf5

Couple of Americans I'd count as good friends (until they went home :() and one German who's a very good friend. Apart from that I'm reasonably friendly with a few English and a couple of Polish. As for religion-one jewish (tight bitch as well actually, not saying anything, just saying....) and a couple of half-arsed Catholics, the only reason I know they're Catholic is because they've come straight from Saturday night mass to the pub a couple of times :D

    Ofc :)

Also as i neglected to add in my post any other nationality also take part. Does it matter to you religion nationality, are you also easy going and have many Irish friends and other nationalities,Sorry guys :)

Eh my best friend is a Polish girl, and I'm also good friends with a Slovakian girl. The only factor nationality plays is that I tend to find the Eastern Europeans a lot friendlier than a lot of Irish people....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭metaoblivia

Let's see... my foreign friends come from the Ireland, England, Australia, China, Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands, Japan, Eritrea, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Panama, Tunisia, Norway, Canada, Kuwait... and that's all I can think of for now.
I love having foreign friends. I wish I had more.
As for religions, as long as they don't get preachy with me and tell me I'm going to hell, it doesn't really matter. My friends come from all over, so they have various religions. I have a few friends who were born into religious cults and one friend who's a Pennsylvanian Amish.

    No. Foreign people smell.

    Ewwwww

Only so that blind people can hate them too :P

To answer the question, I clickec 'yes' - I have a few, mostly Polish, Russian, Moldovan, Ukraine and most of them I've met through Judo.

I've no African friends here, unfortunetly they either don't mix well or are just into the same interests as I am. However I met a few on United Nations service we stayed in touch for awhile but gradually drifted.

Do Brits, Scots and Welch count?.

Aah yeah, but I bet you'd do anything for him if he gave you a few spuds :D

Most of my friends come from countries previously invaded by my forefathers, does that count as foreign?
