Vista with USB to serial converter

Hi there, I am trying to use a USB to serial cable on my laptop. The laptop has Vista on it and will recognise the cable when plugged in, however it will not assign a driver to it. I have downloaded 4 different drivers, all generic and still no joy. Any ideas? GF.

I had the same issue with Vista, would neer ever work for me. Had to use my brothers PC with XP installed.
