Self-Righteous People That Give Blood

Being hassled by a mate about giving blood today, usually I get hassled every few months about this. I simply don’t like needles and don’t want to feel light-headed and faint from such an experience, is that such a problem? Some people get on such a huge self-righteous buzz about this, like they’re saving the world and you’re an inhuman monster. I was even subjected to the hypothetical “kid dying in hospital story”.

I JUST DON’T WANNA GIVE BLOOD – why do people act this way? I understand the percentage of people that do is disproportional to the need etc but I just don’t want to and that’s that – anyone feel the same or feel the same hassle?

So do you actually tell him this or are you just bottling it up into a nice passive-aggressive rant on the internet?

I wanna give blood but I can't cos they think I has the mad cowgoat.

Oh I've said it already but still getting hassled, it's not just him, anyone that tries to get you to do so won't ever take no for an answer.

Me too :( Nothing more infuriating then being bombarded with ads about the poor dying children and not being able to do anything about it. That mad cow rule is total overkill.

I also hate needles myself - and thanks to some "habits" I have they wouldn't use my blood, thank christ. It's like a get out of jail free card :)

Not always the case. I know someone who gives blood but hasn't told anyone.

    Until now I guess.

I hate needles, but I still give blood (now and then, not often enough, to be honest). I may need it back some day, and I'd feel like a hypocrite if I had refused to give it when I was healthy.

Where in Dublin can you give blood ?

i'd be of the opinion that if you can give it, you should give it. there's a moral obligation to try help those in worse shape or whatever. i don't get any way righteous about it, each to their own and all that. the argument 'i dont like needles' is fairly weak and pathetic though. who does like them in all honesty? maybe grow a pair and just get on with it

I've been meaning to give blood ,but I'm never in the city centre.
Will have to make an effort ,I'm sure it saves money on importing the stuff.

OP wouldn't be allowed to give blood anyway - he'd pass on wimpititis to the person who gets it in hospital.
