An English teenager was allegedly told to leave a new Polish supermarket in East Yorkshire because of her nationality.

Student Kaley Leighton explained that she likes to try "new things" and decided to buy a drink at the Polski Sklep in Goole on her way home from college, reports The Daily Telegraph.

However, the 17-year-old claimed that the shopkeeper immediately asked her if she was English and then ordered her out when she replied that she was.

She said: "He said to me 'Get out of my shop' twice. He said it really aggressively and I didn't know what to do because I was on my own, and he was a big man. I just said 'okay' and left.

"I felt angry, upset and embarrassed and couldn't believe what had happened."

The teenager has now spoken to East Riding Council and made a complaint of racism against the store.

I thought every shop nowadays would welcome any business

I was refused entry to a shop in moore st a few years ago because i was white.
Another shop in drogheda had a sign up saying "no whites" untill they were forced to remove it.
Racism cuts every which way,you just dont hear about it unless its white people doing the discriminating.

This type of stuff needs to be knocked on the head though because all it will do is promote racism and you'll end up with English shop keepers not allowing polish people to shop in their shops etc.

What a muppet though. Hope he gets his shop shut down.

I guess this one incident involving a Polish person can mean only one thing: the Polish are racist.

I dont think you can say one people are more racist than the next. Humans are territorial animals by nature. I'd guess the Polish are as racist as the Irish and all other nationalities too

I would have asked them if they only want to serve Polish people, then why the fück is their shop in England?

I would agree there appears to be a significant level of right-wing thinking inherent in Polish society/culture, but it doesn't make Polish people (implying all of them) racist.

is it not the case that the food is brought over from poland specifically for polish people and it costs so much to import it, so they dont want everyone buying it? A friend of mine gets his polish friends to get him some of the food as he cant go into the polish shop.

So if a black guy claimed he was kicked out of a shop for being black you would be of the same opinion? One's word against another. Ignore the story?

It's a popular idiomatic expression meaning that she could be telling lies.
