This is one "threat" i have gotten in work a couple of times over the years (the last 7 of my 26 years on this planet.) working in hotels, and it does piss me right off! AND usually when people say, "I'm writing a letter/going to Joe," its usually because of their own stupidity! For example, using the internet point in a hotel, after swiping your credit card through the swipe machine, and agreeing to the T&C's, which tell you that its 35c a minute, don't be suprised about getting a large bill after an hour!

People used always threaten that in my old job. I had one woman tell me she was a journo for the Irish Times and that she was giong to write an article about the way i had treated her. She asked me for my name and where i was from, so I wrote it down for her. I then reminded her to make sure that anything she said about me was accurate or i'd sue the arse off her. I asked her for her name and where she was from. She declined to tell me

The standard reply here is, "Joe who?"

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

In Cork it's "I'm phonin' up Neil Prendeville" which is even more annoying.

According to City Channel he's Cork's "A lst star" - he must be awesome when it's not even required that "list" be spelled properly.

getin right on the national whinge line... most problems ive ever had was people being obtuse about something or another.. some people just have it in them, probably threaten to go to joe 3 or 4 times a week (/speculation)

Get it all the time in my job,'I'll ring Joe Duffy',as if its going to make me bend the rules just for them, and the problem is always because of their blatant stupidity

I've had the threat of Joe used on me a few times.

Also had some wagon who claimed she was from the Irish Times saying that she was going to have my job because I couldn't instantly fix the problem she was having and she refused to let me troubleshoot the problem.

    Also the infamous U.S.A.F.

Anyone who has worked in Eircom Net has probably dealt with him at one stage or another.

He will remind you that it stands for United States Air Force and that he's a general and deserves respect.

He had a satellite connection but insisted on ringing the number for subscription dial-up support.

One of my not-so-proud moments was answering my ex while i was watching football and she was giving out about her boss being over-officious to do with break-times. I told her to take it to feedback, and she just gave me a puzzled look.

When we broke up i was soooo tempted to tell her...."PI is that way...."

I'm in Cork today and am going to head to the boardwalk Cafe. If I get any bad service/food I'm going to tell the girl I want a refund. If I don't get one I'm going straight to Neill P.....not difficult as the little nob is in there nearly everytime I'm there....wonder if he will take me on air to complain about his restaurant? hehe

I did hear a section on his show a few months before he opened the cafe (and before it was public knowledge he was involved in it), a chap had rang up and they were debating if members of the travelling community should have been let into some bar or other...of course Neill, man of the people, was all for traveller rights. So this guy rings up and asks him "So will travellers be allowed into your restaurant?" I broke my arse laughing! Neill was a little flustered to say the least!

Have you listened to Joe? All he does is let the other person on the phone talk **** while he justs stays relatively quiet, just saying enough to keep the conversation going. He's like the polar opposite of Gerry Ryan, who talks **** while his listeners can barely get a word in!

If someone says they'll have your job just pat them condescendingly on the shoulder and say "Ah ya poor thing - do you not have one of your own?"

Theres a wanker thats on Cowsh1te FM in Galway every morning. I think its a prerequisite that you have to be a moany prick to listen to moany cnuts ringing in every day about a neighbours dog barking or the scandalous price of train journeys, or some such frivolous nonsense.

Screw you guys, i'm talking to Joe!

Never been threatened with Joe thank god. Have been told a customer is bringing me to court twice and of course both times where their fault. I can never understand why someone would start saying this to a worker when it's clearly bollox. I know for one I'd never go into a shop and shout at the sales assistant I'm going to bring them to court.

I think it's a misconception that the customer has that if he threatens to ring Joe Duffy or some other ****, he'll/she'll strike fear into the company and they will then fold to the demands of the customer. I tend to find that companies take you more seriously if you threaten them with the small claims court (obviously within the context of me being right and the company being ****heads).

Once had a guy on phone threateng to ring Gerry Ryan about me the next Monday

Funny thing is, i got a call from none other than Gay Byrne that Monday. He had broken down at his home in Howth and needed a jump start, ironically at the same time as Gerry was on the radio that day

I asked "Am i on radio". He said "No your not - are you gonna help me or not"

    Freaky coincidence

i often get this threat at work.

i work in a hospital, and its usually if someone is demanding to be admitted and i refuse because theres no indication for it, or if theyre demanding a prescription for meds that arent indicated.

it's hilarious how they expect the threat of joe will make me quiver and do a quick 360 turn on my original decision.

i usually say "you're perfectly entitled to do that if you want to. However, it doesnt change the situstion here which is blah blah blah"

that generally takes the wind out of their sails!

I remember a clown pushed me against a glass door cause I would'nt let him into a function. I promptly sqaured up to him his dutch courage promptly dissapeerd, then his camel necked mot started goin on about how I was agressive etc she's going to write this that and the other, I then pointed to the cameras infront of the doors which have a deadly veiw of the doors saying that her "fella's" attempt at "intimidation" was on camera, and if they wanted I could send them on a copy of the tape. They quickly left.
