I was at Snow Patrol a few weekends ago and White Lies were supporting and I thought they were brilliant!

    Anyone heard of them?

I've checked a few more of their songs out on youtube since and I like what I hear!

    Give this a listen....

Really not a big fan at all. Sound like a mesh of alot of sounds I've already heard before.

Love them, haven't stopped listening to the album. Looking forward to a gig over here soon.

I think they're okay, but really just sound a bit like Editors copycats to me

Editors with a more annoying singer.

    They'll probably be huge.

They are hugely derivative but who isnt nowadays. I think they are ok, death is a good song. I wouldnt put them anywhere near the same league as interpol, a band of the same ilk

Another meh band to join the legions of meh bands out there. Recession in music.

I like them.Perhaps not toe-to-toe with Interpol yet, but better than Editors (a poor man's Interpol :D)

    Unoriginal and tedious.

    Everyone will love them.

I was going to buy this album but after hearing comparison's to Coldplay and The Editors think I will give them a miss.

One of the best new bands ive heard in a while. Some really good songs on the album but as has been said they are no interpol and it is hugely derivative. They will be massive though.

Bought their album the next day, not as good as the live experience but you get that with most good bands!:)

also, I saw an interview with them and they sounded really posh and poncy and that put me off a bit too. but they're still crap anyway, maybe if you like snow patrol you'd like them though :p

Ah yes us snow patrol people and our blandly average musical taste...

i think they have a great energy personally. However I dont really connect them to the editors/interpol like everyone else is saying. I think thats just what people will say these days to someone who speaks in key to a song. I hear billy idol in the music and sorta the same in the vocals. My usual way to review an album(personal review) is to leave it in the car and put it in my CD rotation for a couple of weeks. The album is pretty average... even sub average imo..

They have 3 good songs, the first, second and 8th on the album. Great energy and ideas in them, and a FANTASTIC sound. It just doesn't carry throughout the rest of the album imo. The CD goes in, playes the first two and i end up on track 8, then its out of the cd player into the stack again.

I don't think their sound is hugely original but still is a great album.

Arbitrarily dismissing bands because they don't reinvent the symphony is trying to be pretentious just for the sake of it, and succeeding!! I like to hear something different every once in a while but I also like to hear old familiar sounds played really well, which is exactly what White Lies set out to do and achieved. Bought the album will try and catch them live if presented with the opportunity.

Just had a listen to the album to see what the fuss is about, pretty poor imo. Another generic, post Libertines indie band. Yawn.

Albums pretty well produced! Good club floor fillers

Because Libertines were the first band ever.

I wasn't saying that. I was simply remarking that most of the 'current wave' of sameish british indie bands came after the Libertines, prob due to the Libertines popularity etc.
