Adding a gradient to an image

    If I have an image, how can I add a gradient to it so that it will fade out as vertically??

    For example...

    If I wanted this image:
    [IMG]file:///C:/Users/James/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-3.jpg[/IMG]http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Film/Pix/pictures/2008/02/01/gandalf460.jpg

    To fade out to the left...

    How can I do this, and retain the original image colours?? Preferably using Fireworks or Photoshop

    You go to google and type how to fade image in photoshop..

    Sure every time I use Google I just get "Since you're too lzay to use boards..."

    Anyway. I had tried this, but the image's colour always changes to black and white the minute I apply the gradiant and I can't change it back...

    Set your foreground and background colours. Double click layer, blending options, bottom click on gradient overlay. click the drop down menu of gradient styles, your colours that previously selected should be there. click on that. Play with the degrees to give it direction. if the image does not fill than use the paint tool an it will do it then.

    If you are using Fireworks, add a mask to the image first and then apply the gradient to the mask. This way you don't get the black and white issue.

    Your post doesn't say what you have tried so we assumed you didn't try anything.

    Like it says in a Programming forum sticky - Post a sample of your code no matter how poor you may think it is. It shows an effort on your behalf and that's really important
    The equivalent to "sample of your code" here would have been to mention the sites you'd looked at and the results you got.
