Weird - google maps won't load on my laptop

So maps.google.com won't load on my laptop. Absolutely no idea why this might be. Basically, the yellow "loading" sign at the top centre stays for a few seconds before being replaced by "still loading... Slow? Try basic html" and just stays like that indefinitely. Any ideas?
