Hello, can anyone recommend a good Triathalon Bike. I do a bit of cross country biking but the bike I have is too heavy for road use. What do other use?

    Thanks.

You're going to have to give a guide price.

Are you looking for a bike that can be used in a triathlon?

    or

Are you looking for a triathlon specific bike?

I suppose a bike that can be used in a triathlon would do, I'm new to the triathlon thing. What are the major differences on a triathlon bike?

A bike that can be used in a triathlon simply needs to have working brakes and be road worthy. Any style of bike is allow with the except of recumbrants.

A triathlon specific bike has a steeper seat tube that allows the rider to get into a lower and more agressive position to be more aerodynamic.

A budget of 400-500 would rule out the second category of bikes :)

You say you already have a XC MTB. This would be suitable for a triathlon if you replaced the tyres with slicks. Given the usual course profile of triathlons in Ireland weight is not a problem.
