I've always liked these and was wondering if there were many (any) original Irish ones still around. Anyone have one?

I think there was a maroon one in last year's Bank of Ireland calendar, not sure if it was an original Irish car.

Oh yeah. Actually I'm fairly certain that was on a Louth, ZY reg, and was late in the run for the Ro80 which ended I think in 1976.

yes, that maroon /wine one was on the bank of ireland calendar. it was ozy which was about 1981, .its only now I realise that it must have been an import.

Great picture and looks a great specimen

Junkyard - that's gorgeous - bringing it with you ?

Hard to believe that car is 40 years old - it still looks bang up to date.

I know it's going back a bit, but I used to see one when I was going to college in Bolton St in the late 80's. It used to be parked in a car park on a corner of Parnell St, beside where Peats used to be.

You do see them from time to time at shows

....but thanks for taking the time to post, and welcome to boards.ie Joe. I've only recently had the opportunity to get a good poke around an RO80 - What a machine! Inboard disk brakes, power assisted clutch, and the seats are fantastic. Wish I'd the time, money and space to look after one. :)

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply.
I did look at one, an early white one which I wasn't what I wanted. I also missed the one on ebay last month by 20 quid!
    Something will turn up eventually!

Generally it's not good practice on web forums to drag up things from the past, but here in classic cars we take a more relaxed look on this :)
