Mare eatting a lot of bedding

Just wondering if anyone noticed this before, a mare who's in foal has started eating a lot of her straw bedding, as well as the haylege she is being fed. She is also getting course mix morning and evening, and being put out to grass during the day. I know they can sometimes eat the straw, but she is eating practically all…

Just wondering if anyone noticed this before, a mare who's in foal has started eating a lot of her straw bedding, as well as the haylege she is being fed. She is also getting course mix morning and evening, and being put out to grass during the day.

I know they can sometimes eat the straw, but she is eating practically all of the clean bed every day, because when mucking out there is very little left.

We will switch to shavings tomorrow, but just wondering if she could be lacking in nutrients or needs some supplements?

If its oaten or barley straw they love it and she may just enjoy it when the haylage is gone
