Political Correctness, Feminism, Machoismo and general 'isms'

    This is a pretty random thread but I just wanted to know peoples' thoughts on the current state of political correctness and all that stuff in UCD. Does anybody care? Does it make much difference? Just general stuff, if you want to have a rant about how there is a: "sexist, misogynist, racist, homophobic, anti-semitic, anglo-phobic hegemony in UCD" then go ahead! I'm curious about what people think about this stuff after reading the thread: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055492303 so if anyone's got any ideas about this kind of stuff throw it out there, the causes of these things etc...

    In my opinion it's very simple, with no need to over-analyse it. Just imagine the situation was reversed, and you were on the receiving end of bigotry.

    Don't do anything to anyone else that you wouldn't like if done to you. That's it.

    I think people are pretty insecure and can often take a general offense made toward them, personally and relate it to whatever part of them they feel they could be marginalised for(e.g. female, homosexual etc.)

    Example being, that girl in the snow thread, who claimed that the snowballs being thrown at her were a 'sexist assault'.

    That being said, I'm in no way condoning bigotry or claiming it doesn't exist in UCD
