Hotels offering free night stay

I'm recently engaged and have been looking at several hotel websites to see where I'd like to have the wedding. We'll probably be travelling at least an hour to the hotel as there isn't anywhere too special close by.
Problem is, how do I visit all the hotels I'm interested in without staying in some of them? (I'm not loaded!)
One particular hotel today offered myself & my boyfriend a free nights stay just to go down and visit the hotel and have a look around.
Absolutely brilliant idea and has made us both think very seriously about booking the wedding there (obv not too soon tho as it'll be 2011 before we do the deed).
Has anyone else encountered this with other hotels?
If so, I'd appreciate the names!!

If it's only an hour away, why would you need to stay over? Most places will have someone available to show you around on a Saturday or Sunday.

Havent heard of this for viewing but plenty of hotels will offer you / the parents and bridal party free rooms for the night of your wedding, remember theres a recession on and hotels are on their knees at the moment. They may pretend they want to play hardball but the reality is they should be kissing your behind for the business.

If you are not getting married for another 2 years and you book now then I would get everything you agree in writing as the odds are the economy may have slightly picked up by then and they may try and screw you on prevailing prices so make sure you have everything locked down , good luck :)
