    aaaaaagggghhhhh

    that's better.

I picked up a brand spanking new Canon Pixma MP620 yesterday from Komplett and despite 3+ hours of wrestling with it last night, I could not for the life of me get the bloody thing to install on my Mac as a wireless printer.

The printer can be used by USB cable, by ethernet cable and by wireless. I need to use it by wireless.

It comes with a mac install cd and a windows install cd.

    CD installed. Instructions followed. Nothing.

Finally after 3+ hours I got the thing recognised but now it constantly shows as "offline" when I try to print.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the CD several times. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the web.

Can anyone have some mercy on me and put me out of my misery. This is a nice looking printer and I don't want to bring it back.

Any ideas on how to get the thing working?

    Thanks
    J

Was doing a similar set up on the EPSON SX600FW last night and you need to connect the ethernet cable to do the initial set up. Then you can choose to run the printer as wireless.

Was a fairly simple set up once you connect the cable.

Thanks - tried that and that part was grand.

With the ethernet cable attached the printer could be assigned an IP address, could be set to allow access via firewall etc.

I then disconnected the ethernet cable, mac then picked it up as wireless.

All looks dandy. But when I go to print.. the happy little bouncy icon in the dock cheerily tells me the printer is offline.. but it's not

the documentation with this printer is rubbish

Not too familiar with mac but I think you have to set the new printer as the default printer. There is usually an icon at the bottom for printer settings??

OK - finally got it working last night.

this is not an easy printer to set up.
