Will God help us during these hard times?

As a non practising catholic I have considered going to mass to pray for help during these rather hard times.

I used to go about 5 times a year, for the right reasons, but I feel the urge to go more often now. I know it reeks of irony but has anyone else thought of doing the same?

Better off praying to Santa or the Easter Bunny tbh.

I'm convinced that Mum and Dad will admit to me some day that the Big man also falls into the category of people who are made up to scare you into being a good kid.

I suppose that now people have had to stop worshipping money as their God they will need to fill the void somehow..

God? Sure he's the fooker that got us into this mess in the first place!!

If we get out of this mess and you praise god for it surely you should be giving out to him for putting you in this situation in the first place if he's responsible for everything.

Or is he/she (how the hell should I know?) only responsible for the good things that happen and somehow absolved of all responsibility when things turn crap? Sounds like our government, banking system and regulator TBH. Maybe we should pray to them!

Is there some kind of super-God I should be praying to on Friday?

"I was chilling with Jay-o (Jesus H Christ) and Charlie (Charles Haughey) earlier. Jay-o said he only sent Charlo down last time because we were stoppin' prayin'. So get back to it! Once we do, I reckon Jayo will take Briano and maybe even Enda and Burthie back like he did with Charlo!"

There is actually, evidence that religious attendance increases in times of hardship. For instance during the great depression, numbers at church increased dramatically. It seems, according to neuroscientists, that despair and emotionally stressful times garner an increased irrationality among people. They sort of need to escape into fantasy and forget reality.

So it shouldn't surprise anyone if attendances in church go up. Weak minds tend to think alike.

    Feel retarded.

It did sound funny in your head. Let it be like a blanket around you, protecting you.

Well as a Christian, I pray to God in the good times and the bad. Go ahead, pray, and forget about the ironry, God won't mind. Just remember Him when we're back in the good times... :)

Oh yeah, and He doesn't care where you are when you pray so you don't have to go to mass to do so...

Your time would be better spent if you invested in a metal detector and spent your saturday evenings/sunday mornings searching for valuable shinies tbh

I hear you and I feel you are right :)

    God Bless.

I will ignore the "I am funny and want thanks" brigade.

    God's love is unique.
