I was looking at a car in January and the VRT from the website was 535 euro. Went to go and buy the car and have found that the price on the website has jumped up to 986euro. Could there be some mistake? Can I ask the VRT to be rechecked or something?

Revenue's site ros.ie has a vrt calculator you can use to check what the vrt should be.

The VRT is based on the open market selling price, so if Revenue have decided/calculated that the car is actually selling for more then they can adjust the OMSP accordingly. This was common a couple of years ago when the likes of the 200SX soared in popularity with the advent of drifting.

What sort of car are you looking at?
