Quiet good demo, I need a little longer with it though to make up my mind.

Best FPS graphics I've ever seen ;)

Holy crap. For a demo its pretty god damn savage. Can't wait for the full version.

Quite a bit shorter then I was lead to believe, but the point is just to show it to people, running in real-time, and let people climatise to the control mechanics a little bit.

Lucky me though, I get to play the full version next week :p Knowing people is teh win ;)

It's breathtaking with the HUD etc. removed.

Surprised by the AI too. Impressive and fun, had a number of cool little moments even in the 10 minutes of this demo.

AI is good and the graphics are great. As stated already it really doesn't innovate on anything. The fact I don't have a dual shock really takes away from the experience. Will definitely need to pick one up if I'm getting this.

Demohas convinced me not to buy it. Have had my fill of shooters recently. I also hate the dual shock for FPS games.

Must say I wasn't wowed by the graphics. In fact I found the resolution quite small, with a narrow field of view. But I rushed through it yesterday evening, so maybe I'll have a better look tonight. Appallingly short, but hey, you get what you pay for...

I wasn't exactly blown away by the graphics either I must say. Good looking but not exactly head and shoulders above every other console game, more on par with the best. The physics were nice and I liked the amount of physics objects. However all the levels were short corridor sections even the other door areas. Maybe there is more in the later levels since the desert one looks quite nice.

Ya, I kind of felt the same but if you watch some of the HD trailers around the net the quality is much higher- I think they probably had to lower the resolution a good bit to fit it on a reasonably sized demo.

I enjoyed the play tho- it felt hectic and entertaining so I'll be keeping my pre-order. Played it a couple of times just to try different things and it added nice veriety- the first gun with the sight was definitely the best in the demo! Handgun seems a little overpowered tho...

If the game delivers a solid single player, amazing graphics and addictive multiplayer I'll be happy.

Good, but graphics were the only thing to blow me away.

I think I am just not a massive FPS fan.

The AI did seem reasonably intelligent. You coudl sneak up around them via a different corridor, whilst they will hide if you have your sight ttrained on them and will run if a grenade is sent to flush them out.

I really loved the body physics in this, something they made a point of showcasing in the final video. They AI also moves very realistically, like there was this guy behind crate and I could see him using his feet to shimmy along the side, then peak out to verify where I was before shooting.

Graphically I thought it was good, on par with resistance 2. But the motion blur, body physics and weapons felt better imo.

My only gripes thus far would be:
    1. Zooming when in cover: I found when I was in cover that I had to start firing before I'd get the chance to zoom, there was no option to just look up, zoom and then start firing.

    2. Melee: I don't know what's wrong with the melee, but when I was running at someone and melee I'd pass right by them and end up having to turn around. It happened too often to be a mistake I was making. In resistance 2 using melee would usually just stop you on the spot, whereas in killzone 2 it doesn't seem to slow you at all.

How come you get to play it next. I'm not jealous mind, just curious.

I thought the game lookes amazing. Everything is great, I just hope the game isnt flawed by the terrible controlling of moving left and right. Did anyone else find that it was hard to turn?, and when you started to turn it went million miles an hour, It was like trying to control a car on ice. I am a dab hand at call of duty but I was struggling to make skillfull kills with this game. Fingers Crossed.

+1, the xbox controller feels like a more natural controller for FPS games.

I thought there was blindfire in this but yeah, having to move out of cover and then zoom as opposed to moving out straight into zoom is really annoying.

I enjoyed the demo for the most part. Not used to the dual shocks for FPS games but I might have to jiggle around the sensitivity settings. And the button layout too, not a big fan of the placement of the cover and fire buttons - I think they should be in line

Think I'll go home "sick" and download it now!

Could this be the Halo killer PS is waiting for?

    Wouldn't be hard, Halo sucks!

I just had another go. I cant get over the targeting feel of this game. Its very difficult/bad. I had another go with COD to compare and got a 15 killstreak in Veteran mode. I dunno. Maybe its a 'grower' control wise, maybe I am too used to COD. This has the best ambience in a game I have seen so far so I am praying I can get over the controls.

Well every review I've read so far has indeed said that the controls grow on you, that they're fine when you get used to them, that if you're looking for COD4 controls you're going to be disappointed as there's much more weight to the movement in Killzone. Going back to COD4 now for a comparison isn't a good comparison either, you'd have to go back to COD4 the first time you played it to see.

I bought Resistance 2 last week and it took me ages to get used to the controls I'd been playing World at War so much, but I think that happens with any game. Happened me with Racedriver Grid I'd been playing so much BUrnout Paradise.

I tweaked the sensitivity of the controls in teh Killzone 2 demo and found it much better, I can't wait for it now.

Wow, I must be in the minority of people who actually prefer the controls in KZ2.

OK then, I can live with that. As has already been mentioned, the controls are heavier, but the sense of weight conveyed is much more realistic. It also lends itself to making the game more difficult for the 'run-and-gun'-ers, making combat a more tactical exercise. I played the original KZ a lot and have been reading the reviews as they have been coming out, so I was already aware of the difference in controls and movement. This may have helped me become more accustomed to the system quicker.

Graphics-wise, this game is beautiful. The effects like blur and smoke, as well as the physics involved in the lighting and collision detection, are superbly realised. The animations on the bodies are fantastic too. It looks realistic when you shoot someone in the shoulder that they will have that shoulder thrown back by the momentum and force of the bullet. I am surprised no-one has mentioned the sound. It is absolutely spectacular.

Obviously we have yet to experience the online system, or get into the plot, but based on just the demo, I can certainly see why this has been getting high scores.

My only gripe has already been mentioned, in that the zoom while in cover is not immediate, however, I did find that if a shimmyed down along the cover before popping up, I had time to zoom and aim before the enemy had time to spot me.

I thought not beign able to zoom when in cover was a nice touch and added realism(Pretty sure if your behind a wall you would have to come out of cover before aiming. Sound was great too!

terrible waste really since the demo is only 10 minutes play

Ok. Played it a few times now and I am getting used to it. I love the way the bullet sounds change when your near the end of your rounds. Nice touch.

Thinking beyound the demo while I play I am thinking its gonna be a seriously great game.

Yeah lads Ive beeen finding the controls hard aswell !!! Its a great game but I just cant get used to it.. Is it possible to change the button configuration??? You probably cant on the demo though. With some games you can do it and it makes a HUGE difference for enjoying the game, and its the difference in being sh*te or deadly. I will be gutted if u cant change the buttons ! It even took me ages to get used to the COD buttons.:(:mad:confused:

Seems to me like the controls are delayed, the movment of the analog.

Overall a big meh from me, once again FPS should stick to the PC.

I've never played a FPS on a PC (or anything else except solitaire to be honest) and all I hear is how FPS's are better on PC and dire on consoles.

Can you explain why that is?

Better and smoother graphics but the main reason is the keyboard and mouse controls. They are far better and more accurate than any dual analog system.

Won't this game support keyboard and mouse anyway since it's on the PS3?

The controls need only a bit of getting used to and there were few issues control wise from the BETA or the myriad of reviewers who have spent hours on the campaign.

I think the biggest problem is people approaching the game as if it were CoD4 and being almost unwilling to adapt to a different type of gameplay. I can't really fanthom how they're having so much difficulty with it but then I've never played an FPS on a console when I can play it on PC.

I am an addict when it comes to fps. Both PC and PS3. I had trouble with Killzone for the first hour or so but I settled into it no problem and its starting to make sence. Yes you can change the control configuration.

In regards to PC's being better at FPS. Again. I cant remember the amount of Gaming time I have had on a PC in the past. The Keyboard mouse configuration to me is equal to using a PS3 controller. I have seen Veteran PC gamers being pwned by Control users (yes both on a PC). Its all about habits.

I have a very high powered PC and I am still having issues with some games not working properly etc.... At least with the PS3 I know its gonna work no hassles.

Do a search for COD4 on PC and PS3 on Youtube and will be able to compare skill levels. Not much in it at all.

So.... Killzone 2, I thought was bad when I first started and now its awesome. Just need to adjust from on FPS to another. Play FEAR2, Killzone2, COD4, CODWAW and Fallout3 one after the other. Thats alot of adjusting.

Still havent had a reply from 'projectmayhem' who gets to play it next week!! C'mon. How come? Is it a proper version with Box and everything?
