I need to update a few drivers (All HP) on a win2k3 printer server.
When updating a driver on the server the users workstations (XP) will not update as they hold onto the old driver....causing major headaches (App crashes/hangs, etc)

If I log onto the XP workstation & remove manually the printer and the driver (File > Server > Drivers Tab) and then re-add the printer, it will pull down the new driver locally and all is well.

Is there a way to get XP to do this? Anything I can do that will trigger that in XP maybn on user logon?? Would restating the spooler on the local workstation trigger the same??

    Cheers guys

    Edit:
Maybe this is more suited to the Windows forum?

here is part of a logon script I use for one company's SBS 2003

    start \\server1\phaser (upstairs)
    rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /y /n\\server1\Phaser (Upstairs)

basically it loads the driver and then sets it as default - in your case you could add a line to remove old drivers as well.

    hope this helps

(server1 is the name of the server and phaser (upstairs) is the name of the xerox printer)
