I don't want this thread to be about race.

Race is entirely relevant to the argument. We took too many people in. Now when the jobs are scarce, we cannot get work because of non-nationals

The problem isn't the number of foreign natio als coming into the country, it is the ease at which employers will pay them below the going rate that is the problem. Oh, and they are not refugees, we didn't take anyone in, they came here of their own volition.

Let me correct my own words - I wouldn't like this thread to descend into just another slagging section against other nations.

Nationalities might be relevant to an argument but choosing a nationality as a means by a small few to have a go at culture/faith/etc is never advantageous to progressive discussion.

    Pics or GTFO.

Seriously, it was a few weeks ago, he/she was selling pics of himself with the monkey. Couldn't do it though, it took about an hour to compute in my head what I'd just come across

When you say race what exactly do you mean, non Irish(ie EU citizens) or non white people?

What do you propose the Goverment should do to this non nationals? Send them home?

Never forget that most of the companies in Ireland are American, so with the companies comes their people. If you think sending the foreigners home is going to solve the problem then my friend you are in for a shocker. The way this foreign companies came thats the same way they would leave, then what?

Seeing in the news today that British people are marching for "British jobs for British Workers" (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1131708/Stop-stealing-jobs-Thousands-oil-workers-Britain-walk-row-influx-foreign-labour.html or http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7859968.stm), I thought I'd never see such an occurrence on such a mass scale.

Is there anything I am wondering that others here thought they'd never see but have come to pass that have shocked them?

This is true but its a first to see such numbers actually in an organised protest, partly backed by the unions. Not just the lunatic fringe.
