The bus, do i get it? I think i do. It's a sort of vehicle that picks up members of the public for a fee and drops them at their desired location on a route ? is that right? :o

Yep, all the time. I quite like them, no idea why though, especially considering I live in Tallaght, but once you avoid the 77 they ain't so bad

I practically live on the bus. It's a ****e service but I'd be lost without it. There is always somebody annoying /weird/ crazy on it though. Ah, good times.

Possibly the most annoying incident was on an express bus from Dublin that was meant to bypass Lucan village. Unfortunately, it said on the front of bus that it was going 'via Lucan village'. So all these muppets started complaining to the bus driver, making him go into the village in peak-time traffic, then most of them fooked off the bus on a little slip-road near the village. So, everybody else who wanted to by-pass Lucan had to sit through traffic, while those yokes, who could have got nearly any bus to the village, fecked off.

Just another one of those stories that reminds me of how much I love public transport.

Goes the wrong way for me so I've never gotten it, I'm in Tallaght village and just use the busses to get to town really. Have heard some horror stories about it alright though

I get the train to and from college every day, and I have a car so I rarely need to use the bus anymore. But the main bus that goes through where I live, the 102, is a feeder bus so I can travel for free on that with my monthly train ticket. So occasionally I'd use that if possible, instead of driving.

Yep I get buseireann to dublin some mornings, or else the 151 if I can get a lift some of the way.

Bus eireann buses are so comfy and the regular driver is so nice. He knows all of his regular passangers by name and alway has a big hello for everyone.

Really cheers up horrible rainy mornings.

used to rely on the 33.. needless to say got the train whenever possible. took forever at the best of times, overprices and NEVER showed up on time

    Dublin bus are a joke.
    +1

Then I moved to a city with proper integrated public transport :D although there are better systems in Europe, I almost cry when I return to Dublin and have to use the buses or trains and DARTs (25 minutes till the next DART? feck off would ya, Rapid me hole)

I mostly use the tube but the buses are handier for local trips as I'm "sarf" of the river where the tube network is a little sparse.

used to get it all the time but got a car bout a month ago so have stopped.
the 184/84, horribly irregular buses to get, ever half hour at the most.. sometimes and hour, sundays you can be waiting an hour and a half + for a 184.

There are likely far richer people than you who use public transport and cycle, they have just gotten over them selves and/or don't feel the need to show or tell people they are not poor :pac:

I only get the 66 or 67A if I need to head in the city direction from Maynooth. But weekly I get the Bus Éireann 20 (Galway-Dublin). Newer buses are the only good thing for it, apart from always being late, sometimes not arriving in Maynooth(which, I admit, has happened a lot if I am wanting to be picked up) or the heat being either too hot or too cool. only get it because I do need to go home at weekends.

I can remember one driver couldn't turn down the heat last May. He asked us at Kilbeggan if we wanted to get off and wait for the next bus, and half the bus did. I stayed on, only because I had water with me anyway:cool:

When I lived in Dublin, I got the bus all the time. It was a good service on my route.

I always wondered though why the fat guy with BO/crazy woman/alco would also end up sitting beside me?

I get the 66/b about 16 times a week. I save loads with the bus/luas ticket, not so much now they've hiked it up by €9 though.. A few weirdos on the off-peak busses I get home from work, nothing actually scary though. Skangers are more of a problem.

every day, more or less. The good oul 13 or 13A.

I dont know how much longer i'll be able to resist the urge to shove that phone playing disturbia at full blast down its knackbag owners' mouth and then knee him in the mouth until it turns off.

and the 4 is awful...seats are designed to f**k yer back up, aisle too narrow..its a nightmare

You'll be happy to know then that the 13/13a are two of the routes being cutback by Dublin Bus...

    http://www.herald.ie/national-news/city-news/dublin-bus-moves-on-cuts-as-30-routes-hit-1612205.html

The 4 goes out to Blackrock so won't be cut in case it pisses anyone off from more affluent area's.

So long as they cut back the ones that dont actually run anyway it should'nt be too bad

Be careful about sitting at the back seats on the top deck. I've heard stories of skangers leaving used heroin needles behind them, sticking up from under the cushion. Catching AIDs isn't fun.
That would be all true.....found one under the seat before.along with my dropped phone and the foil of cadbury`s bar...(cant stick them up into the cushion though theres a wooden end to them)

The 7 and 45 are both being cut quite a bit. They're both quite frequent buses that run through Ballsbridge so all the usual stereotypes go out the window. I guess the thinking is those people can take the Dart.

The 11, 13, 13A, 19 are all being cut so so expect service on the Ballymun road to turn to crap quite rapidly. The 103 is losing some or all of it's buses so the four people a day who rely on the worst bus in Dublin will be put out.

    What's the Hybrid bus?

I get the 38/39 into town maybe once or twice a week if I'm going on a night out. The journey isn't bad but by God the people can be dodgy.
Hunds rule should ALWAYS be applicable when you're on a bus!

Anybody that doesn't get the 78A and moans about their buses is just a big wimp

I can see how some people find it funny but personally I just never really got the bus.

Yep, I spend about 10 hours a week on a bus.

100% of my travelling done on public transport is done using the luas, that might change if I move. I hate the bus and refuse to use it. I rather spend more on private transport.

    What's hunds rule?

There's only one and it's usually operating the 16 and so far it has missed me.

Isn't it just €2.20 to travel the 24km from Maynooth to Dublin? That's too expensive? Steve is really hitting home..
