RADIO JAMMER?

Does anybody know if there is a device available that can stop radio signals within about a 20 meter radius? If a radio is on full blast in a room I want to be able to silence it. Would some sort of radio jammer make a radio fall silent of would I just hear static?

    Thanks!

    AFAIK Jammers are illegal.

And unless you have very special gear all they would generate is static. If you jam a receiver within 20m for the strongest stations radio signals you would of course jam the weaker stations over a much larger area.

    Strong signals
RTE are chucking out half a megawatt on longwave and most of Dublin has line of sight to the 40KW transmitters on Three Rock and Kippure

    Weaker local signal
Raidió Na Life, FM radio 106.4 MHz 500W
    Dublin's Country Mix 106.8, FM radio 106.8 MHz 500W
