I was attacked by a grammar nazi today!

So I'm protesting against the college fees today like 1000's of other people in Waterford. Shortly after the protest is over, we head to get a lift back to college.. As we stand there, soaked in water - This obnoxious, posh woman walks past and says "You should protest the right to spell privilege correctly"..

I look down quickly at my sign in the off-chance that I somehow made an error in my spelling...

Education is a right, not a privilege.

"Nope, sorry lady. The spelling is just fine."

"No it's not" she countered and laughed to her friend and walked on. Needless to say, I did the same.

No doubt she's going to tell all her friends at the bingo hall tonight about how she corrected a filthy little peasant student's spelling. If only I had a dictionary, I would have thrown it at her.

The story checks out, you may apologize to the OP now :p
Gardaí estimate that around 2,500 students from the Waterford Institute of Technology took part.

    Was the attack serious?

You could have ended up in a comma.

    Help us, oh mighty google:
    Results 1 - 10 of about 32,700,000 for priviledge.

    Did you mean: privilege

Results 1 - 10 of about 32,500,000 for privilege [definition].

Result: bad spellers outnumber good spellers. If u cant beet em, join em.

I remember when these girls were protesting against vivisection outside Trinity.

I was passing them, when I stopped, and started making circling motions with my finger. The girl I was looking at started staring at me, so I started mouthing, and she still didn't understand.

So I went over and told her that her sign was upside down.

Unbeknownst to Paddy, the definition of Grammar Nazi covers both grammar and spelling.

It's about time people stood up to all the spelling and grammatical errors that appear in today's society. Only when these mistakes are all corrected will we be able to stand as a nation shoulder to shoulder with all of the other nations and be able to say with our heads held high that we belong.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "Seo dhibh a cháirde duan Óglaigh, Cathréimeach briomhar ceolmhar,"

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Mayo, the sons of former boggers and the sons of former bogger-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Wexford, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

    I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, the town of Limerick, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Dublin little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.I have a dream today! And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing. And also won't someone please think of the children!!!

I attended an Irish university and paid no fees. Now I have a good job. But I hate that my tax money is being spent educating lazy, Countdown watching, Buckfast guzzling moron students. So I say bring back fees.
Also, can we put social welfare offices somewhere else? Say Ballymun or Longford, somewhere I don't have to look at them and the poor. It makes me uncomfortable. Not guilty mind, just worried my hubcaps might be stolen. That is all.

It was ok at the time for you to attend university and pay no fees but you want students to pay fees now?

just worried my hubcaps might be stolen. That is all.
Don't worry, we will leave the hubcaps - we will just take your car.

I got turned down for a grant 3 out the 4 years I went to college due to a clerical error so I struggled through. By the time I got the grant for 4th year I had a loan to pay back and it was the end of January before I received my first cheque.(Was still damn glad to get it) I say bring in the fee's and implement a student loan system for them to pay back. Works for other places.
