is diffs different in hilux n hilux surfs?

hi i have brought a hilux 1989 2.4 deisel, when puttin in 4wd it makes a horrible banging noise so i have put new axel n hubs on it and it is still doing it,its really bugging me as i just dnt know what is wrong i wandered if the diffs on the normal hilux n the hilux surfs have the same ratio or if they are different?? if…

have you turned the 4wd lockers into 4wd postion on the front hubs?

the hilux has manual hubs and it doesn't pop into 4wd itself.

if not that check the front prop shaft for side to side movement,that will show if the universal joint is gone and the front prop shaft is out of balance
