I think the minimum investment is 2000e

I think if you recheck that, you'll find it's not correct. Plenty of people over the years have acquired single shares, specifically so that they could heckle/ raise awkward issues from the floor over various issues... Think Shell/ Esso/ etc that get into confrontations over labour/ environmental matters.

Irish Independent down to 26 cent, could be there own fault for starting the recession..:)

Too good for them imo - remember the disgraceful fanning of the flames of the property market by the Sindo with their anti-stamp duty agenda? If anything, as we no longer have our own interest rates, Ireland should have been slapping on the stamp so as to calm the market to a sustainable level - with the monies raised spent/ saved wisely. The Sindo's role was corporate irresponsibilty on a massive scale.

Or what about the intellectual pornography that masqueraded as the Indo's property supplement? Or recall how the Indo backed Ahern into and in government? And all owned by a man who doesn't pay personal tax here yet always ensures that a title conferred by a foreign head of state is used in reference to himself? The one bit of good that this govt has done in the last year was not sinking €50 million into Waterford Crystal... Perhaps tony may now rethink having as it's US marketing public face a minor member of a german royal family in england; it is however I suspect too late... I wonder if miss ferguson would get more severance pay than the poor unfortunates in Waterford...

The Indo down to 26¢ and T O'R's own private interests taking a hammering? Sounds like the roost is beginning to fill with it's chickens.

It's the unfortunate pensioners with small share portfolios, workers in the banks, Waterford, etc that I have sympathy for.

Fair enough I stand corrected though I had thought that online options had opened it all up.

there going lower by the looks of it, AIB @ 77 cent and BOI @ 48 cent...

BoI is now 45¢... At this rate the Zimbabwe Dollar will be worth more than BoI stock by the end of the day. Is it time to send Cowen and Lenihen over to Dr. Mugabe for financial direction - they might do a better job then

If you are an AIB customer, you can use their Share Dealing Service (http://www.aib.ie/sharedealing). Minimum trade is €127 (Max is ~€64k if I remember correctly)...don't remember seeing anything about having a minimum balance in your "nominated account" -- and mine has certainly gone low a few times :)

It does take a few days to set up though, or at least it did 5 years ago when I set mine up

What would it take for US to STOP the current Government 'funding'/'saving' their GOOD friends (the Gamblers) of Anglo Irish Bank ? Would it take a CHANGE of Government, if so, lets DO IT........

It's funny how when things go well it's described as "sound investment strategy" but when it goes wrong it's simply "gambling".

It's time to buy the candles, stock up on the non-perishables and buy yourself a shotgun!
