Things you thought but later found out you were wrong

ok as the title says post the things that you thought only to realise later that you were wrong.

Mine is as a kid i thought Zig and Zag were real and not puppets, my reasoning was that Zig and Zag had feet and puppets dont have feet.

Also a friend of mine always thought that a goat was a male sheep, he only realised the truth when he was in his late teens.

Anymore?

kangaroo was supposed to mean i don't know in aborigine but stephen fry told me it doesn't. That QI show has shattered so many of the things i thought were true

New to AH and I can't believe I am saying this in my first post......

I used to think that the job of an ambulance driver was to to run people over and then bring them to the hospital......

I used to think when they spoke about bed shortages in hospitals they meant they actually didn't have enough beds. I couldn't understand why they just didn't go out and buy more.

A part of me still thinks that.

When learning the letters in school, for some reason, I thought the
'L, M, N, O' section was one letter 'Elemeno'.
