samsung LCD keeps jumping from widescreen to 4:3

anyone know why my new Samsung LCD tv keeps jumping from 16:9 or auto wide to 4:3 view. it happens every 10 minutes or so. very annoying. and every time I turn it on the sttings for backlight etc have reset. HELP!

Weird. There is a setting in there for "auto-wide" or something like that which you can switch off. Tis in the manual somewhere.
