To go against all the spirit of AH and try and be helpful here.

What's the name of the Dating site?

You're friend sounds pretty unstable/desperate/mental to be honest. If that guy she's talking to knew that she was crying because the website was down he'd run a mile. I think it's your duty to tell him! :D

Leave the OP and her friend alone. Internet dating sites have millions of users so there's no excuse for slating them.

So what if it has millions of users, what difference does that make? Don't make me Godwin this thread!:pac:

@Kiera - I can't help but think how you'd react differently if the OP's mate was male...

Something like this happened to me to. I was getting on grand with this bird on a dating site then it went down. The bitch like! I know it's out of her control seeing as she has nothing to do with the site other than being a member, but she hasn't made any effort to contact me even though she has no other way of contacting me, it's not on!

Please do I'm dying to hear how you relate internet dating sites to the N***s.

(word starred out to avoid Godwining it myself)

I reckon he was gonna go for a simple "just because millions of people do/support something, doesn't make it right. The Nazis had millions of supporters........"

What has happened to the caring loving after hours I used to know?? :(

You went to sleep, and when you woke up, the drugs had worn off.
She's not a bunny boiler, she is really lovely but I think has had her fill of local lads and wanted something different

Only thing different would probably be the accent. Better off going for something battery powered in the meantime. No need for tears, just always have a few 1.5 AAs handy.

No need to panic. I'm sure the website will be back up soon. Crisis averted. :)

    my thoughts exactly.

Nothing wrong with it. I cried a little when Ayrton Senna and Frank Sinatra died. Shed more than a drop when Mufasa passed away.

As long as she doesnt meet him down a dark alley way she should be ok, the poor sod will probably be more nervous than her anyways.

I feel bad for too because maybe she is emotionally dependent on him

Ok, you know when someone is bothered about something and won't say? But you know there's something up...Anyway, my friend was over this evening, we have a Desperate Housewife night most Tues in hers or mine. Ok so sitting there and I knew there was something up but when I asked what it was she couldn't tell me. Half way through D.H. she started crying, not in her character to do this might I add. The problem is simple. She joined an online dating site. Not sure sure I name it here. But it is undergoing a renovation or something and she can't get onto it. Was just at the stage of asking for a guys number and says they got on well. If I could even find out when it will be working again it would be a relief for her. But I have no website for them despite looking online. Any ideas? She's worried she might not be friends with this guy when or even if the website comes back. Sounds sad but she seems really attached to him...

Just a hunch here but, does your friend ever burst out crying on a random night out? Have you ever been on holidays where at least one night has been a big drama with her as star of the show?

Having lived in many different places it never ceases to amaze me how difficult Galway is as a place to gets dates. I'm sick of randomers, gave that up and now I'm stuck literally in no man's land...what is with this place??!

She sounds quite a catch alright.

And if she's involved in internet dating .... possibly quite a big catch...

.......a very very very big catch.

    Crap.
Tell her I miss our conversations too.
It's a shame that site went down. I was just about to give her my number too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭gaeilgegrinds

She is a bit of a drama queen alright...
No it's not me, I'm happy out at the moment even though it's early days but fingers crossed. Don't think it's every second post I had in fairness, but if it was it was with some good reason. Needless to say twas not a Galway guy that asked me out. She's out with him now anyway and all seems to be going fine judging by her texts.

Geez i always thought i would be creeps who use online dating sites, apparently its the new way of meeting people. I recently heard that 1 in 8 couples in the US meet on the internet.

I also heard that 1 in 8 US couples are really ugly. With no personalities.

I know the odds are 8/1 on the people I heard about being the same as the people you heard about, but i'd put a few quid on it. :pac:

Actually that 1 in 8 stat i heard was from a video made 4 or 5 years ago. I say alot more people hook up online nowadays than they did about 5 years ago. No denying that the internet is playing a much bigger role in out lives now.
