You should put a few more hours in after that you barely got past the tutorial at that stage.

I was similar to you. I got that far and couldnt see what all the fuss was about. Played it a few more hours and got into it a bit more and found it more enjoyable.

I dont agree with calling it "best game ever" and so on but I certainly enjoyed it.

The reason its posibly not selling for you is the fact that a lot of the retailers fropped the price of the special edition box to something really low like E35, dont know if it came back up from that or not but i'd say there were a lot of people picking it up at that price.

Nice to see the patch addresses a lot to the game's bugs. I'm about to start my second playthrough. Definately my game of the year: good story, great environments, cool combat, lots of playtime, interesting achievements and good customisation options.

Right so I haven't played my PS3 for the past 2 months, last night being the first time with a bit of classic COD4. I intend on having several quiet weekends over the next 5-6 weeks, so I'm looking into getting one or two new games.

I have a few mates who are highly recommending this. If I get it, will I be signing my life away for a while? I hae a FT job that i'd like to hold on to for a bit!! :)

Maybe somebody can change my mind about this. I can't see why this game is so great at all. Played it twice and ended up in some city made of rubbish and never played it again. I think it's ****e really I do.

Also I can't see how there are hundreds here who love it and it still hasn't sold for me on a certain website at half the original purchase price.

Just takes a while to get into it..I was a bit like that at first..And was really like that for Oblivion..I thought it was just gonna be dungons for the whole game..Just play though it..You'll learn to love it

I must add my praise to the game. Started it over a week ago and was underwhelmed at everything bar the vault escape. Eversince I got to Megaton and beyond however so many more possibilities open up. It is the most satisfying game with broken combat I have ever played!

I am head to the Histroy Museum at the mo and am level 6 so no idea how far I am but I have a fe critcisms.

I don't mind the long time it can take wandering between places but what I do mind is the fact the raiders can take potshots at you (with stunning accuracy) when they are miles away yet if you try to return fire you will have a 1% chance of hitting them.

Also, the inventory is alot of work, I have picked up so much MISC crap and I have to keep dumping it to make space, very hard to know what to keep. Same holds through for weapons, I mean If I take a hunting Rifle of a mutant and then dump it back, have I taken the ammo from it? Or do I actualyl have to waste one then throw it away?

Finally, the indoor dungeons and their local maps are a bit crap and can lead to lots of frustrating "stuckness" until to find your way out of yet another identical door (purely by chance) to the next area-I'm currently at the hotel near the hospital...

Otherwise it is an enjoyable game. I may say excellent-we shall have to see.

There is a very easy way around this (well I have not found a problem yet)
Determine 1 place as your "base"
If you deactiviate the Nuke in Megaton you will get your own house for this stuff
, then use the lockers/boxes as your storage. This allows you to come back when you need the spare parts at will.

I just installed the patch and immediately began experiencing crash issues.

If anyone is experiencing such issues with the new patch, then install Nvidia's Beta driver.

Thanks for this. I downloaded and installed it and hope it will stop the constant crashing that occurs when i play Fallout 3.

Got to say i love this game, i never coud get into oblivion but fallout totally captivated me, kinda pissed that i'll miss out on the DLC with the PS3 version. Favourite bit of the game was decapitating a guy with a teddy bear from the rock it launcher.

Finally finished the game yesterday. I played through the game as a good character so i got the good ending. Bit dissappointed you can't carry on playing like you could after finishing Oblivion.

Started playing again today. I'm going to play it as a bad character this time. Decided to make my character female as well to see if there's any difference.

Is it worth 50 euro? It's 50 in Argos, but I haven't checked Game or Gamestop yet..

Honestly I would say no. The main story line is too short, the side quests are few and far between and overall I although I felt it was a good game it felt lacking in content. If I had the choice I would go back and wait for the price to drop.

    You're wrong

It may be an over-simplicifcation of the overall game experience which is second to none & the game worthy of a recommendation for that alone, but he is partly right; Fallout 3 is demonstrably a smaller game than Oblivion. The world is smaller, figuratively and literally; there's fewer quests and the DC wasteland is about 1/4 the size of Oblivion's land.

After playing the game and coming from somebody who understands the base mechanics of games, one thing was very obvious to me. Fallout 3 was a game made for xbox users to get downloadable content. Its so clearly lacking. Give it a year when they release the rest of the actual game then buy it. At that stage they will be doing deals for game and DLC.

I view the real release date at some stage next Christmas.

I am on the ps3 version (fine btw!).

I am just leaving Rivert city, very disappointed with the city, theres no one there except a trader and a big boat I can't yet access. If it weren't for the you know what in the Lincoln memorial then it would be a pointless are. Is there more to do here?

Also at what stage of the game's main story am I at if I am leaving Rivet now?????????????

That may be true, but you're forgetting that Oblivion was rubbish.

Fallout 3 might be smaller, but there's still a metric f*ckton of stuff to do, and apart from the main quest being far too short, it's all good. It's immersive, it's funny, it's beautiful.

If you really think it's too small, pick the Explorer perk once you hit level 20 to see what you missed. I don't care how obsessive-compulsive you are, I guarantee you missed something interesting.

yep I was wondering the same thing at that point of the game, as were lots of other people. I thought it was excellent after I lft there. The game really gets going when you leave megaton (that city)

In terms of missions, about half way, in terms of time about 80% of the way. Once I left rivet and proceeded with the main story I wasn't far away at all.

I'm playing through it a second time and I'm just exploring the city itself. Coming across places I completely drifted past the first time round.

Jack up the difficulty level and you will have to explore, as you have no ammo to take on the big boys

Well I disagree that Oblivion was rubbish, so there's no point getting into that argument. But I can assure you, I have explored every inch of the map. I have completed every side quest (had this confirmed once I started messing with the GECK mod tools) and generally, to a point, run out of things to do. The map is demonstrably smaller too.

There's a lot of potential for elongating the game; the factions remained untouched - I spent hours waiting for a chance to work for Talon Company - there's no chance to do things like become a trader or whatnot, but not at the moment.

There is more than enough content.

Did you dislike the LOTRs films because they weren't each 20 hours long and they missed content?

I am surprised if I am 80% finished at Rivert City.

I have done like 3 non story quests though.

Looking at the massive map I am surprised it is 80% through considering only the bottom right quarter had been properly explored.

LOTR has nothing to do with anything - Fallout 3 is a great game, but the possibilities don't feel as "endless" as Oblivions; there's plenty of content by today's standards of video-game length, but against the precedent of previous Bethesda games, not as much as there could have been.

Thats because very few people cared about all the content in Oblivion, most of which was fairly tedious. Thankfully Bethesda have ignored the diehards and put their effort into making a great game.

Most people I spoke to who enjoyed Oblivion enjoyed it because of it being an expansive world you could get lost in, so different strokes in fairness. Like I said, Fallout 3 is a great game, but a lot of stories & elements of the world remained untouched & it doesn't take a massive leap in logic to suspect Bethesda will eek out these bits using DLC

I love Fallout 3 and still play it, but a lot of times it left me thinking "Why can't I do this?"
