I don't like the level cap but when you reach 20 the game is way too easy. Once you have the right set of guns nothing can touch you and getting rid of the level cap will just make this work. I started a new game and had great fun until I was level 15 again and then it was just going into building after building killing supermutants. For such an open ended world, it gets very repetitive.

Eh, so I've finished the main story, I think the last quest is called Take It Back or something. I wanted to finish the side quests, but I don't think I can go back and do that without starting a new game! Someone please tell me I'm wrong ;[ ;[ ;[

Absolute fúcking testicles I don't think I can go back.
On the bright side I might avoid failing college this year!

    But... Oblivion :pac:

You can't until the DLC is released.

I'm autosaved in the Rotunda with the door locked behind me. There's nothing I can do :(

Go back to your last manual save.

Even if its a good bit back.

Tip: Dont start the mission "take it back" otherwise you cant use the citadel shop.

2 thirds of the time I have spent playing this game has been after clearing the main quest, probably more.
Its well worth exploring the game world, loads to do.

havent played it in a while, so when i played a bit today i had a small patch update... the trophy patch

not very good to realise ive done 80% of the game and none of those already completed quests account for trophys

fairly **** they arent retro active

aah, just finished my second playthrough. had a load of towns and quests left to see but id hit the lvl20 cap and i was good as invincible. perfect condition power armour, full set of unique weapons (except that mirv fatman) 250 stims to hand and more money than.. china.

i think i miiight do one more runthrough as a totally evil character, but playing as an idiot int<3 say might be interesting too.

    bring on the dlc!

Finished it over the weekend. There's loads I could give out about. It's a bit buggy, it's too easy towards the end, some of the buildings look the same, the character animations are stiff but, but it's brilliant. The setting, the locations, VATS and the story are all excellent.

I've still only uncovered 2/3rds of the locations on the map and I've a load of side quests to do. I am going to play through again as a good guy and specialise in lasers. And then there's the DLC. I can't wait.

    My game of the year.

I've taken to playing this on the hardest setting.

It brings back the early in game desperation for ammo, stimpaks etc.

Bit late now though, I have a huge stockpile.

Right sorry for asking but what is dlc?

Also i thought the main storyline was very short and i couldnt go back to do the side missions but started a new game now:D

DLC == DownLoadable Content. Basically mini add-ons you purchase for the game. Think expansion packs, only a fraction of the size & cost. A gravy train for Bethesda if it takes off.

just finished , loved the game , my only problem was you could only reach level 20 i feel you should have no limit . killing things and getting no xp kinda took from it. all that aside best game i have played in years.

apparently the dlc for the consoles takes the lvl 20 cap off and the geck made short work of the cap on the pc version.

I'm well prepared to keep buying fallout 3 expansions.

Having played some oblivion expansions, I know there will be a good bit of play in them.

Its about 20 quid for 2200 microsoft points, 800 for each expansion.

I spent twice that on 3 crap games recently, second handers, and they just dont cut it after fallout.

Removing the level cap through mods doesn't work 100% as it causes the game to crash (because there are no player status' beyond level 20 - "Palidin", "Last Best Hope for Humanity" etc), and in a latest preview, Bethesda said they were only upping the levels to 30.

Got a PS3 and the game just recently. Only relatively at the beginning of the game and got to the town where I have headed in to fight some fireants. Have to say that despite enjoying the game I find the combat raher tedious! Am I supposed to leave those ants alone til later as I am not tooled up for combat yet? Or are all the combats drawn out affairs??:o

In the words of Mortal Kombat
    "You weak pathetic fool"

    Fire ants are strong gits

the android plasma rifle? or the alien blaster?
both pretty savage, the Lincoln repeater is mad too, its just in a case in the lincoln memorial. uses .44 bullets and repairs with hunting rifles. does mad damage.

there are special versions of most of the guns

    I love my Lincon repeater.
Went into the memorial completely unprepared and was getting so whipped, was about to give it up as a lost casuse and all of a sudden I find this monster of a gun, blast my way out with out a bother

crashed spaceship, centre north on the map. You will pick up a beacon on your radio when you are near it

can you get extra ammo for it??

Not to mention a date for Operation: Anchorage. The 27th January is all we have to wait until!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,738 ✭✭✭mawk

well that and the alien blaster.

funny, i almost never used the alien blaster.. it always seemed like cheating, too powerful.

and no you cant really get extra ammo for it, just some super rare bits on random raiders now and again. especially near the super duper mart, which is becase there is an EVEN MORE powerful alien blaster that randomly falls from the sky in that area. high luck would probably help. I never got it..

Given how limited the ammo is, I only save it for special occasions.

Very likely to be game of the year.

I wasn't very impressed in the first couple of hours, but really enjoying it now.

Maybe somebody can change my mind about this. I can't see why this game is so great at all. Played it twice and ended up in some city made of rubbish and never played it again. I think it's ****e really I do.

Also I can't see how there are hundreds here who love it and it still hasn't sold for me on a certain website at half the original purchase price.
