cant get into my hotmail for some reason

probably the wrong place for this message but a few days ago I tried to get into my hotmail account but it wont let me in. I know my password is definately right I've had it for years. I clicked the forgot password button but that didnt help at all cause the answer I gave didnt match what I put in when I set up the account…

So I tried to reset it but of course they send the password reset to your email which is kind of ironic considering thats what I cant get into ...
I know this seems like a stupid post considering you can get a new email address easily but I've had this one years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At a guess I'd say it's probably been hijacked and being used for spam.
