Same here, I always call in my order and then go to pick it up. No place does deliveries.

    Fast food is pig disgusting.

Live a bit of a drive from the nearest take-away so only get food delivered once a month or so now, probably collect a take away from the chipper about once a month too...

When I lived in a house share though Dominos were on speed dial... got one at least twice a week.

    I miss dominoes :(

At home, there is no delivery option. The only pizzas are in the supermarket, or the chipper (gack).

In Dublin, I've ordered pizza twice and chinese twice since I moved in almost 10 months ago. I don't think my consumption of take aways has gone down, it's probably up a bit.

I'd kill for a Dominos right now. Meateor, dip the meatballs in garlic dip... nyom!

Haven't ordered a take away for long over a year now, no healthy choice take aways available in our area or most of Dublin it seems.

To be honest I just got sick of the stuff, terrible food imo also take away menus that promise the food will be hot when delivered, it never was :(

If I want chips, I make my own much nicer than the chipper and better for you imo

Nothing better than your own cooked meal. I'd order a curry every now and then. That's about it.

My Wife can cook some excellent Indian and Chinese dishes. I'll order in if i'm home alone, or she's tired. Her home cooking beats them all though.:)

Its very rare that I do, and even rarer since I made a tit of myself.

Several months ago I ordered a chinese having been out for a few sociables. After this I had a complete mind blank. So when a d.ickhead in a galanza turned up outside the house in a full skobie uniform, was I about to open the door? I think not. He was so persistant though.

Shortly after telling him to fúck off through the letter box I got a call from the chinese saying their driver "couldnt get an answer".

    Anyone for pizzahut? :-/

    Christ.
The scobie had a job and you did your best to get him fired.

I would only order take away on average once a month. Im trying to book a restaurant that has pre-theatre menu for next week but the prices are ridiculous. They have all seemed to increase their prices. Dobbins are charging €39 plus 10% service and Chapter one is charging €37.50 while the Winding Stair doesn't do a per theatre menu. I know they are all nice restaurants but for god sake, you would think they would lower their prices instead of increasing them. I think i'll be ordering one extra take away this month!!

You are right. So in the sobering day of light, I marched down to the take-away to see him. He actually looks like Owen McLove and is a modern day Robin Hood! Told me he took no offence, and re-assured me that he direct debits his dole to various charities. What a trooper.

    ;-)

Well if they keep going that way, they will price themselves into closure.
Sad part is, they will be scratching their heads asking each other "how did we fail?"
    ...like duh!

    Well **** em!
If they're not willing to provide a competative price in these times they deserve to go belly-up.
Just like the pubs and they'll wonder where it all went wrong..

2009 in Ireland will be about just surviving more so than raking once bigger profits.
If businesses don't get that, they deserve to fail.
Its time to batten down the hatches as regards trying to still rake it in.
Anyone thats gets through the coming tough times but just holding their heads above water, without robbing the man/woman on the street, will get my money more so in future.

I usually round it up, if the pizza is €8, I'll give him €10. Poor lad has to run up 4 floors to get to me!

Friday night is Chinese night here!
    Once a week is enough.

Had a chipper last night, though: E4.90 for a curry chips!!! Its about a half bag of chips with one scoop of curry on it! I only got it coz I was fairly on me way. But how is the recession not hitting them?! Mental!

    Nothing anymore

I normally collect my grub but I ordered some food from local Chinese a few weeks ago but had too many beers to drive down to collect it so I got it delivered.

When I ordered I asked how much it would cost me and was told 23 euro including delivery charge so I had 25 euro ready to hand the delivery guy.

He turns up and shows me a docket with the total amount (23 euro) scribbled out and it was changed to 27 euro!

When I questioned it the fecker told me that the girl who took the order made a mistake and phoned him to change the price.

I said that was bollocks, gave him 23 euro and told him to tell her or his boss to contact me (I am a regular and know most of the people who work there) if it wasn't right.

    F*cker

Those threads are from the good old Celtic Tiger days, when tipping your delivery person was in fashion, I wanted to specifically know that we are in a serious recession what are people think about tipping, I myself will round it up to the nearest euro max I'll give now is a whole Euro
