With things going there way they are economy-wise, will it (or has it effected) your ordering of home deliveries of fast food?

How many would you order in a month, to be delivered to your home?
Can you see those numbers changing dramatically?

I usually only order in if I'm alone with my kid. Quicker to pop down and get it myself anyway.

The only time we get a take-away is if we're getting Dominoes pizza because they're both in Swords, which I don't live in. That would be maybe once every two months or something, if even that. Besides that, only when I'm in a friends house and loads of people are ordering I might get something with that order too. That might be twice a month.

The recession hasn't changed a single thing in my immediate life.

I ask because I saw a news report that these type of business are apparently picking up where other businesses are declining.
Just wondering if this is true as far as others know...

I don't think i have ordered take away in over a year. Not mad on chinese and if its not Domino's it's not good enough-besides all the cheese and calories in them keep me away.

    and what about takeaways?

    Sorry :p

Friday night is my takeaway night. Lucan has Roma, Dominoes, plenty of chinese ones.

    The Tasty ftw!

Should be an "I live in isolation" option.

Some nights i would give anything for a decent take away. 50 miles for an Indian is way too far to go. Needless to say, no such thing as delivery :(

    yup - saw this alright.

I think those that got the occasional chipper / chinese / pizza may actually cut down a small bit, and get cheaper frozen foods in, but it's the people who'd usually go out to restaurants that are helping the industry by staying at home more and ordering in the food - and thus seeing it as a saving on food, drink and possible taxies etc...

So I'd imagine the restaurant industry are in the sh*t... So many of those 'Gormet' Burger places are in for a tough year I'd imagine. Seems to be so many of that type of thing around over the past couple of years.

I don't think I've ever even done that more than say...five times. I've obviously eaten at fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Supermacs etc.) hundreds of times but not since september when I went back to college. I never get takaways, there's always food at home.

    Never

but its well worth the 10 mile drive and back for some supermacs chips + garlicsauce

yea i know the garlic sauce is full of spunk but I don't care it tastes good.

i think these places will actually do better in the recession as people will stop going to restaurants but still want a night of cooking so takeaways will act as the happy medium.

we would order about twice a week if ya average it out and only reason i see that changing is coz we are going on a new year new diet thing!!

an ex housemate used to order the exact same thing from Apache EVERY night!! literally 7 nights a week!!

What about the "I don't eat take aways" Option?

It can work out cheaper to eat healthily y'know.

I think some of that could be down to the general feel-bad factor and people trying to eat themselves happy.

I rarely get take aways delivered. Maybe 5 or 6 times a year at most.

I make my own dinners a lot, make more than I need and then freeze the left overs.

(I think this should be in the Things you do now that you are older thread :()

I'd only order to the house about once a month, so cant see that changing. Usually if i want take away, i will go and collect it myself

would order in maybe 3 to 4 times a month, either dominos, local pizza/italian, or the chipper, can't see the recession changing that

    No, but, it's cold enough.

My sister often rings me to tell me she's having a Chinese delivered or pizza. Most of the time you forget. But if youve been on the beer.... :( toasted sandwich ftw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,972 ✭✭✭Podge2k7

There is a chipper and chinese just up the road so i never get anythng delivered,I just walk up to them.!

Once a month but I get a much bigger choice than just the typical pizza/Aisian food and it's often not "fast food" but expensive "slow food" that is no different than eating out except you eat in :)
