Hey. I cant find my car keys. Its a 1996 VW golf estate.

Is there a way to replace them that wont cost the earth. Its a '96 vw Golf. No immobilizer, stearing lock (currently not engaged).

The guy from the AA said something about calling VW with the engine chasis number. Has anyone done this before?

A VW dealer should be able to get you a key number from the chassis number. They may require proof of ownership. Once you have the key number a locksmith like www.crothers.ie should be able to cut the key for you.

EDIT : Chassis number is 17 digits long and look something like this : WVWZZZ1HZRW123456
