Dell S2309W Monitor - no video from Siemens HD1 using HDMI cable

    Hi,

Just purchased one of the Dell™ S2309W monitors for €186 over on the Bargain alert forums - the offer is now gone.

Monitor works fine with a pc using svga cable.

I'm using a hdmi to dvi-d cable (purchased from Digibuys) http://www.digibuys.co.uk/Premium-Qu...BLE-p-173.html to connect a Siemens HD1 satellite receiver to the monitor.

The screen is just blank. I have tried changing the video sources using one of the buttons but without success. When I remove the hdmi to dvi-d cable (hdmi end) from the back of the satellite receiver, the Dell monitor displays dvi cable disconnected. When it looks like a video source is picked up - power save activates.

I've tried the Siemens HD1 with a Nordmende 32" tv via hdmi to hdmi cable & it works perfectly indicating that the receiver is working ok.

I'm at a loss for what to do next.

    Any ideas ?

    Many thanks,

    GB

I have also tried the a dvi to dvi cable to connect the dvi port on my pc graphics card to the dvi port on the monitor - video output is fine.

I have also tried the following product http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.743 together with a dvi to dvi cable. again no video output on the monitor from the Siemens HD1 receiver.

I have also tried a dvd player with hdmi output using both of the above cables but without success.

    Any suggestions ?

    Regards,

In my experiences of using the monitor its grand. In my experiences of using a tv or monitor with a HDMI to DVI cables, its has rarely ever worked. There always seemed to be a problem with the output source recognizing that there was a live cable active.
