Does it feel like Christmas?

One thing I have noticed about this year is that Christmas doesn't really feel like Christmas as much as most other years. I am a fairly go-with-the-flow guy and wouldn't get majorly excited anyway, but I come from what is usually a very Christmassy household; my mam loves Christmas and when even she is saying it I relaize there's something different. I've noticed my girlfriend and a few friends saying it too.

Anyone else feel this? Do you think maybe it's just the time that's in it, in terms of our economy etc.?

Merry Christmas all the same, and I hope you have a good one.

Is no one giving tins of Quality Street to their neighbours anymore? I love taking everyone's unwanted Strawberry cremes when I go to their houses. Nyom.

Ever since I started working, it's never felt like christmas. Too used to associating christmas with a couple of weeks holidays.

Christmas day on a thursday ,followed by a weekend .....with no snow doesnt make it very christmasey but I have noticed it seems to be more and more a state of mind every year rather than an occasion .My friends in Canada have tons of snow at moement so perhaps that's what we need ,more snow.

Its been an overall gradual decline of christmassness over the years, 2003 saw a surge as did 2005 however.

What time you off at man? Sucks to work at Christmas. Hope you arent working tomorrow. I'm on call at the mo but unlikely to get called so I'm happy out. Have worked Xmas day before though and it's no picnic.

i noticed this too.. no quality street this year not even a box of roses... all biscuits although i have been munching into them. i would still like a tin of quality street i'll have to buy my own next year:eek:

No it doesn't at all really.. could be due to work (for the first time I've spent more on others than I was relying on getting presents myself) and a family split though.

Oh and about the quality street.. absolutely, I could never understand how the strawberry cremes went unwanted! ;)

    Happy xmas all. :)

Really doesnt feel like christmas to me either this year, none of the decorations or pressies are really appealing to me at all. meh!
I'm blaming the fact i went to NYC for xmas n new years last year and managed to avoid it all

I just cannot wait for the Christmas dinner! Turkey! Ham! Sprouts! Roast potatoes. Mammy style. Wahey!

    Anyone feel more Christmassy now?

We're having Christmas dinner in my aunt's. Which is about 2 hours away by car. Maybe that's what's sucking up all the Christmas spirit in me :(

You're right, maybe we need snow. Where's all the snow?! I think it's safe to say the immigrants took it.

I hate everyone going around saying it doesn't feel like Christmas. It happens every year and we all seem to have forgotten it come the next year.

Christmas will feel like Christmas tommorow when even your cat is pregenant with food and you're slumped by the television watching Fair City with a paper hat on, then coming here to either deny having seen it or to tell everyone that Leo's so wooden you're amazed his legs haven't rotted off after all these years.

Well Mam is in hospital and Dad is in a Nursing home.

So nope, this year is crap!

Still, my wee man is over in the morning, Class!

I'll make the best of it!

    Completely Agreed.

Still, it feels far less like Xmas than it usually doesn't feel like Xmas!

Yup, i'm on the same buzz as you metion this year - doesn't feel like XMas at all. Only thing that's 'tradition' to me is the XMas Day Swim which i'm just back from. Out to the oul' ones house now, eat some there, have to keep her company. Then back to the oul' mans house, eat more there, have to keep him company. Then upto the GF's house to talk sh1te - I wish I could just throw everyone into the same room and make them talk together, it'd be a lot easier!

meh, it's my first xmas in new zealand, the weather is warm, i've spent the last week out surfing in a springsuit, nobody on my street has any decorations up that can be seen from the street, in the heart of the city here, there's very very few decorations, and ive only heard 'fairytale of new york' once.

doesnt feel even remotely like christmas.

and christmas ended an hour and 7 minutes ago.

    No,
almost all the family are sick, so no visiting or big Christmas dinner this year.

Yeah, doesn't feel like christmas here either. I put it down to lack of decorations for one. Plus the weather isn't right. Maybe it will kick in later on.

I havent' really been listening to Christmas music either
