I was thinking about making a CD for my Car, I want one that will last a few months without me skipping tracks. Looking for some ideas for timeless 80s Tunes.
Kane gang Closest Thing To Heaven is the first track

simple minds - alive and kicking.
    great tune.

tenpole tudor - swords of a thousand men

    the teardrop explodes-reward

the ruts - staring at the rude boys

vienna as someone earlier suggested is an excellent choice

Its ironic but the songs we loved in the 80s will be lyrically adaptable for now!! UB40 1 in ten. this song was written about the dole in the uk in the 80s. 1 in ten was on the dole. And UB40 took the name ( UB40 was the name on the forum you fill out to claim benefit ) Today they predicted that soon 10% will sign on in Ireland. how many more 80s tunes that where written back then could have been written today....

Bye the Bye I am listening to the script at the moment.. Kick Ass Irish Band!!!!!!!!!!! B

Story of the Blues - The Mighty Wah (still relevent today lyrically)
Getting away with it - Electronic

here's some Irish pop songs for you:
Rythm Method - The Fountainhead (Dun Laoghaire)
My Friend John - Those Nervous Animals (Sligo)

There are many that come to mind, but the best one that's on the tip of my tongue right now is:

Belinda Carlisle - Heaven Is A Place On earth

Not too sure if sounds as catchy!!!!!

    I am the UP20
    A number on a list
    I am the UP20
    Even though I don`t exist
    Nobody knows me
    Even though i`m always there
    A statistic, a reminder
Of a world that doesn`t care

My arms enfold the dole queue
    Malnutrition dulls my hair
My eyes are black and lifeless
    With an underprivileged stare
I`m the beggar on the corner
    Will no-one spare a dime?
I`m the child that never learns to read
    `cause no-one spared the time

    (chorus)

    I am the UP20 .... etc

I`m the murderer and the victim
    The licence with the gun
I`m a sad and bruised old lady
In an ally in a slum
    I`m a middle aged businessman
    With chronic heart disease
    I`m another teenaged suicide
In a street that has no trees

    (chorus)

    I am the UP20 .... etc

I`m a starving third world mother
    A refugee without a home
I`m a house wife hooked on valium
    I`m a pensioner alone
    I`m a cancer ridden spectre
    Covering the earth
    I`m another hungry baby
    I`m an accident of birth.

Not my favourite but I just feel that 80s hip hop is horrendously under represented in this thread.
