Friends - who fcuking needs them? Some stranger you meet and you end up putting up with their moodies, insecurities, drinking/drug problems, listening to what a crappy life they have. Screw that - I've got my wife, kids, extended family, all of whom I know I can rely on so I don't need a friend, don't want a friend.

Oh and people who class strangers on Facebook etc who they've never met in real life (if they even know what that is) as friends are very sad individuals who should step away from their keyboard every now and then.

I'm very lucky as I have a lot of very close friends who I see nearly every weekend at one point, I've also 2 sisters who I'm glad to say are my best friends, and various friends around the country & living in England who I keep in touch with via email/Facebook etc, and would see about twice a year.

Sometimes its hard work keeping up with everyone and friendships are like any relationships, you only get back what you put in, but I think its worth the effort.

On boards.. I doubt ive any... and am okay with that..

In real life ... hmmm... about 10 really close friends.. that only really matter... and then some.. of course.

'The Ladz' friends(for havin the crack, what goes on tour etc)= 5
'old stock' friends(types youd want in an emergency, but no crack anymore) = 3
'wife' (no good in a crisis or on tour!) = 1
    boards = 0

I think I'm very lucky to have a lot of very close friends.

Last night was great. Went out for my birthday and had about 20 people there at one stage from all walks and different peer groups and they were all really close friends and a lot more couldn't make it. I've never really been a part of any big groups of mates, but the friends I do make stay friends for life.

Indeed, the moodies, insecurities, drinking/drug problems, and crappy lives of people you don't get to choose are far superior, of course!

Also, being "self reliant" and having friends are not mutually exclusive. That's like saying "Why would I need a car when I have cake?". Unless the only resource out of your immediate reach was cake, and let's be honest, if the only thing missing in your life is cake, you're doing alright. Unless all you require in life is cake, not even pants, or maybe you're able to fashion pants *from* cake.

Which is a bit beside the point anyway, what I'm getting at here is don't make up some fake macho reason why you're a billy-no-mates.

My two best friends are girls. I know one of them through the other. Now that I'm on Christmas holidays (although they're not), on average I see one of them about twice a week and the other about once a week.

I have about 10 other proper friends, all guys. I usually see the majority of them on Friday nights when we play poker and there were 13 of us who went on the holiday to Greece last summer. I don't know if they're all "proper" friends as there's only a few of them that I'd be comfortable in having a one on one conversation with. But all of us have been friends in this group for over 2 years

32 boards friends (and 1 husband - Vote for him BTW The FRAD Man Rules!!!) that I would walk past in the street as we have never met.

7 True friends, that have stuck with me through thick and thin..

Really depends upon one's definition of friend but I have many, many cardboard cutouts of characters from various sci-fi shows with whom I will occasionally throw parties or copulate. Diana troy and both of the "Dax" characters from deep space nine would be my most frequent companions. I occasionally get drunk and pour out my heart to the neelix replica I have sitting at my kitchen table. He's a great listener.

I have no boards friends, I have been lurking around this site for little over 6 years now and have managed to avoid notice quite successfully, a fact I am quite proud of. In fact I would be willing to bet good money this post goes completely and utterly unnoticed, with the possible exception of a grammar correction from some mouth breather.

The "FRAD Man" does not rule. He even tried to start a smear campaign against me: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=58315035&postcount=99

Conduct unbecoming a nominee for Poster of the Year.

    Frada is a woman?

Was it one of these heathen San Fransishco marriages or what?
