My primary system is a mac and as much as I love my NC10 I'm finding it hard to live without spotlight. Has anyone tryed installing google desktop? How big would the performance hit be?

    But how would samsung know?
I mean if the original wi-fi card was put back in afterwards...
That would mean the same for ram, hard drive everything internal...

No, the ram is user upgradable for warranty purposes (hence the access panel on the base), the other parts aren't. How they would know, i don't know, usually there are stickers marked "warranty void if removed" that are a giveaway.

Is it easy to upgrade the RAM on these and is it expensive?

It is very easy, and takes less than 5 minutes. I bought a 2GB stick of ram from Elara for €25.

Thanks, would I be right in saying it doesn't have CD drive?

    Sorry for the newbie questions.

I read the case you get with the NC10 isn't great.. fine for storage but it's basically a slipcase. Apparently no real use for transporting the laptop around.

    So bought this on Ebay.

Should work out at about €7.. own one of these slipcases for my Macbook. The best type of laptop case.. not bulky and typically grip the laptop well.

I ordered the bag last week and it arrived today. Very nice foam bag for the money. Has 2 side-pockets on the front.

Nice ongarite.. mine hasn't arrived yet but looks like it fits the NC10 quite snugly.

    Correct. No optical drive present.

I picked up one of these

    http://www.techair.co.uk/store/productdetails.asp?ProductId=233

in PC World (Liffey Valley) the other day for €25. Its a great little laptop bag for my EEE1000h. Lots of pouches. Bigger than a sleeve of course but gives proper protection from falls as well as plenty of space for extras )power supply, spare battery, dvd drive, books, mp3 player, phone).

    Thanks,

How much would you pick up a good external suitable cd/dvd drive for?

Hop onto ebay and you'll get something for £40-50.....
PC World even have external DVD burners for EUR60-70
    They're not expensive.

What I tend to do is mount ISO images over a network and run the images as virtual drives. Saves messing around.

Got mine yesterday, only got to open today and I'm loving it.

Setting it up to my liking now and will plan a Leopard install this week, hopefully my 2GB of RAM will have arrived by them.

I ordered from the same link, but the bags a bit different, no hand strap! but still great value for €7 including postage.

OK thats weird. Is it like the one in the eBay link. Single pocket at the front?

Is there a bricks and mortar shop that I can pick this laptop up? Elara seems to be sold out.

Looking for a blue one but if they're not going to be for christmas I'll get a black one from Elara with some extra ram. Is 2gb the max?
