Do all boardsies have the same accent in your head?

Right, first post in AH..I did a search of this just to make sure I'm not retreading over old ground (or re-threading, har har....ugh!).

Anyway, was at that boards singles mingle in Doyles last week as I usually go there and hey, I'm desperate. Didn't find the boardsies in the end, so regular night in Doyles.

I was chatting with my friends about some boards related stuff when I asked them "Is it just me, or when you are reading threads on boards does everyone have the same accent?"

Man, woman, young, old, normal or borderline internet stalker, every thread I read on this place everyone talks in the same male, southside accent. Even if they type all the colloquialisms they use in conversation.

Is it just me or is some guy in Cork reading this with a cork accent rambling through his mind?

I've met a few now through cycling and everytime I'm not amazed by how people look nothing like I imagined but how they sound!

I'm also pretty sure this counts as AH unless there is a mental illness thread I should be directed to :)

Yeah, except I think of it as a Northside accent.

You sound way too posh to be a northsider, unless you're from malahide or something! :D

They all sound the same except Dudess. She has a high pitched tone that goes hand in hand with her avatar (cheers monkeyfudge).

I was just going to post that. :D "I am woman hear me roar"

I never thought about it much but yeah I have accents in my head for a lot of the regulars. For instance I can't read faceman's posts without hearing them in my head in Dirk Benedict's voice.

People who post in rtrd spk all sound like irritating giggly teenagers in my head.

Luckily I don't hear any boardsies voices in my head when reading their posts.

Plan on doing another podcast soon.

I'll take requests on giving other boardsies a voice.

I always think the person looks like their avatar and I make up a voice in my head to go with that! I have a distinctive voice in my head for SoWatchaWant and for brianthebard for example. Also, when I think, my thoughts in my head sound like powdered toast man.:pac:

    Yes , they do.
For example I don't hear a poster from America or anywhere else any different to a poster from Ireland.
Can you really hear in accent's?

They're just words to me....

Looks on the otherhand, I often imagine!!

    Weirdo! :P

Nah you're right, I can't imagine any accent to them, and had never tried before. Still can't.

But you know what I sound like! :P

Nah, the only poster that has a voice to me is Tar.Aldarion, I always imagine like, Cinderella or Aurora or something because of his gender issues.

Also, I can imagine Orestes voice as sounding a bit like one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

But that's it really, the rest is just words.. :)

Whenever I used to read those pigman posts (was that his name, chap who referred to himself in the third person) I always heard him as bill hicks though...everyone else sounds like me, but for him it was always hicks' "Goatboy" sketch.

@SharpShooterH: I don't get by what ya mean "Can you really hear in accents?", what else would you hear? I guess I meant the "inner voice" you have when reading.

No, they all sound the same unless someone is shrieking hysterically, in which case they sound like Voldemorte.
