Why can girls hit guys and guys can't hit girls?

Hmmm.

Usual reason would be because men are bigger and stronger and thus it's unfair. I know plenty of girls who I would definitely not want to fight though.

I know a mate of mine was punched by a couple of Irish girls on holiday, and he didn't know what to do. If it had been a lad he'd have punched back, but he didn't really have a clue what he should do. Lucky for him a bouncer wandered over who had less qualms about hitting women.

I went out with a girl who'd had an abusive parent and whose previous boyfriend while a nice guy had clearly got a temper and had obviously hit her a few times. She was absolutely petrified of ever being hit and expected it a lot which was really sad. She hit me once in an argument, mainly because it had been all she'd grown up with, and I just held her until she calmed down. I wasn't ever going to hit her, but then some people would have. She felt terrible about it, which was the crucial part of it.

I would know girls who think it's ok to hit guys, and quite hard really. People usually laugh it off, but it does kind of bug me. Violence is never the right answer, from either gender.

They shouldn't .I used to never get in the situation where is could happen but once you get belted around the place for no reason,you realise , sometimes turning the other cheek is not going to work .

Oh, for the record, I am in the "no one should hit anyone" camp. The fact that someone will resort to violence for anything other than defence says alot about them, regardless of their choice of opponent.

Yup. We were messing. He got annoyed, slapped me hard. So I shoved him and said he hurt me. He did it again and said it didn't make a difference that I was a girl. Messing is fine but when you've said it hurts and it's left a hand print on your skin, it's time to stop!

I agree - the main reason men hitting men's acceptable as it's the way in which most societies are structered - according to who's the biggest and hardest. Men hitting women doesn't contribute anything in this regard - mother's are expected to nurture.

We've progressed from this point, but not really - 100 years of changes in social order is never going to override innate reflexes - and innately most men feel weird about hitting a woman and find it socially unacceptable for anyone else to do so. I guess it's a protection mechanism for society.

That said, there's nothing like a flying headbutt to the mid-section to get the attention

Although I'd say if your sexually active with a woman it's important to throw an odd random shot straight to the ovaries just to add an extra layer of pregnancy protection.

MizzLolly's story reminds me of when my bf accidentally hit me in the face, then used the opportunity to peek down my top, while I was still stunned by his smack.

It sounds really bad written down like that, but it was kinda funny at the time. (He did apologise, obviously.)

Anyways, nobody should resort to violence to get their point across.
